It's always time for tea

As you guys may or may not know, autumn is my favourite season. There’s beautiful aspects to all seasons, but I always find myself being extra excited about autumn. It also happens to be many people’s least favourite season. I can understand that, but I definitely disagree! Today I thought I’d share with you why I love autumn so much. Let’s go!

Sweaters & layers
One of the biggest reasons why I love autumn, is that autumn fashion is my absolute favourite. You get to wear dark, muted colours (burgundy!), layered outfits, cute ankle boots, leather… And if you don’t feel like putting together something layered and complicated, you can just throw on a comfy sweater. Oh, and let’s not forget about hats! I love love love wearing hats, I feel like they elevate any outfit.

Productivity goes up
When it’s super hot out in summer, I find myself less able to get a lot of work done. All I want is to lie on a blanket outside with a cold drink and good company. I’m too sweaty for makeup, studio lights are death, and I just lack motivation in general. Rainy weather may not be the most beautiful, but it sure helps you sit down and get stuff done.

Hot drinks
Ok, I admit, I do drink hot beveraged all throughout the year. But they’re just so much more enjoyable when the rain is beating down on the window and you have some candles burning! Also, bring on the autumnal flavours. After a whole summer of lemony and minty teas, I’m ready for some serious spice.

Speaking of candles, they’re back! Lighting a bunch of candles in the evening is possible again now that the sun goes down a little sooner. I love lighting candles all around my room, and throwing a scented one into the mix. Which, by the way, my favourite scented candles around this time are the woodsy, heavier ones.

Cozying Up
Getting comfortable under a blanket with a good TV show and some snacks. Need I say more?

I love the look of autumn. The look of all the leaves turning red, yellow, brown and orange is mesmerising and absolutely beautiful.

You can get away with a lot more in autumn. Think dark lipstick, dark nail polish, thick eyeliner. I like the no-makeup makeup look, but after having worn it for a couple of months I’m more than ready for a change.

Although Halloween isn’t traditionally celebrated in the Netherlands, it’s quickly gaining popularity and I love it. I can’t wait to pull out my SFX makeup and work on some awesome scary tutorials for you all! (Speaking of which, I really need to start planning for Halloween month…)

I’m so excited for apple and pumpkin flavoured everything! I love these flavours and I can’t wait to enjoy them again. I’ve actually been craving pumpkin for a few weeks now but can’t justify paying as much for it as it costs now, so I can’t wait until they’re back in season!

What do you like most about autumn? And what’s your favourite season?

  1. OMG I love the Fall as well! It is my favorite season!! I love it for many of the same reasons as you! I love enjoying hot cocoa with a good book, all cozy with a blanket, while its raining! And my kitty curled up with me! lol Every year I go to the apple orchards and get fresh squeezed apple juice and they have a shop with some amazing candles! Its truly is a wonderful time of the year!

  2. Autumn is my favorite season, too, for a lot of the reasons you listed. I like that the northern hemisphere of Earth has just finished a very active season of growing beautiful plants, vegetables, and fruit, and now is ready to start resting. Even though nature is starting to rest, the cooler temperatures make me feel like getting outdoors and being active even more than in the summer!

In summer I like water activities, and in the autumn I’m ready to go hiking. I love the beautiful colors and smells of autumn even more than those of summer. I’m ready!

Thanks for your blog, I like it even more than your Youtube channel, which I like a lot!

  3. I adore these last days of summer… when the sun is still shining and you don’t need a heavy jacket yet. But the air! It’s so fresh and pure 🙂 On days like this I often feel like seeing the world for the first time. It gives me the optimistic security and motivation to get things done, not like in spring, when everyone is loosing their minds and crazy about the first sunbeams, hihi 😉
