How much thought do you put into what shape you file your nails in? I have tried a couple of different things throughout my life. I’ve done the “squoval”, with a straight tip and slightly rounded edges. I’ve had them short, long, I’ve done the natural shape that’s pretty much how my nails would look if I’d just let them grow. And now I’m onto something new: the almond shape. This pretty much means filing the sides of the nails until you get a pointy shape at the tip.
I like my almond shape very moderate, so I just file the nails into a slightly slimmer shape than it would normally be. I don’t like the very pointy, tallon-like shape at all (that scares me a little bit) so I make sure to keep it very subtle.
I really think this nail shape looks good on my hands; it makes my fingers look a little slimmer and more feminine, in a way. It looks very elegant in my opinion and I have to say I’m surprised it didn’t occur to me sooner to file a bit off the sides of my nails to make them look slimmer. It makes the nails look longer, too!
I’ve noticed this is quite a popular shape at the moment, and I have to say I’m very happy with this trend. I love it! How do you feel about almond shaped nails? Is it something you would try?
(Oh, please ignore my complete inability to paint my nails properly. It’s a problem)
I’ve always worn my nails in an almond shape – they squick me out if I leave an edge. I think they look elegant, and as you say it makes the nails look longer.
The reason I don’t really like the almond shape is that I only see it on fake nails. And to be honest.. I think fake nails are sort of gross. They grow out so quickly and look terribly thick in most cases. But that’s another topic :D
My nails keep breaking because they’re so dry and hard. I find that they’re easiest to handle when somewhat squovalish.
Squovalish is such an amazing word.
I like the almond-shaped nails in general and on you in particular. They’re elegant and understated, And you’re right, they do elongate the fingers and hands for a very patrician look.
