A Wedding & A Funeral| Loepsie’s Life

I’ve seldom, if ever, had such emotionally turbulent weeks as last one. There was so much going on! I got home this morning from a four-day “Wie Is De Mol” camp at scouting which was loads of fun but absolutely crazy, and the week that preceded this camp was quite the experience as well. I’m surprised I made it through feeling quite alright, although I’m suspecting I’ll crash sometime in the days to come, haha! Anyways, let’s take a look at everything I did last week.

Saturday

On Saturday morning, I hopped on the train with my bridal kit to visit a young lady who was going to get married soon.

Bridal make up really calls for try-outs, just to be sure everything is settled and you know exactly what the bride wants and what products you need for that.

I also did her hair, we settled on a look pretty quickly and were both very happy with it!

The try-outs did take a little longer than expected, so I grabbed myself some fries on the way back home. On the train I received a message from my friend in Dublin, saying she and her boyfriend would be able to have me over in June, yaaaay!

So when I came home I booked my tickets right away. I’m so so so excited to be going to Ireland again, I’ve been saying I want to go back ASAP since April of 2015 so I’m super happy I finally will. Can’t wait!

Sunday

Mother’s Day! I took my mom to Amsterdam for some chocolate fondue in the dark. This is my first driver’s seat selfie, haha!

Amsterdam! The weather was beautiful so the canals were full of little boats, we spent a good while watching all of them from a bridge and seeing what kinds of food everybody had brought on their boats.

This is the place where we went! It’s called Ctaste and it’s a place where you can eat in the complete dark. The food is served by blind or visually impaired people who also escort you to your table, and then you try to dine without being able to see. It’s such a strange experience! We went for chocolate fondue and as you can’t see anything, you pretty much have to just eat with your hands. We laughed so much! They don’t tell you what food you’re going to get beforehand so you have to guess and then they tell you whether you were right or not later. Lots of fun!

Monday

I didn’t take any pictures at all on Monday, oops! I wasn’t feeling too great as poor old Maxen was obviously nearing his end. He couldn’t eat on his own anymore, and although he was still happily grinding his teeth and bulging his eyes and even running around the couch occasionaly, we could see he was tired and sleeping a lot. By this point we were kind of hoping he’d pass away in his sleep, as he was still completely healthy, just very old.

I went to dance class in the evening and then back to Utrecht. I would’ve liked to stay at my parent’s, but I really needed to get some work done as Tuesday was my only proper work day of the week.

Tuesday

Morning! I was pretty worried about Maxen on Tuesday, but productive enough if I dare say so myself.

When you want to take a picture and forget your phone is on front-facing camera… xD

Grocery haul! I got oranges, apples, kiwis, pears, sandwich spread, soy milk, egg salad, broccoli, apple sauce, vegetarian “meat” balls, and leek.

Tea and work!

When I’d prepared everything I needed to film my video and turned on the camera, I got this message. And realised I’d left ALL of my SD cards at my parents’. Wow. Luckily Robbert offered to fund an SD card that I’d use for the camp this weekend and that he’d then use afterwards, so I was saved, haha!

I had to wait before I could go get a new card because I had muffins in the oven. When they came out I ate a few and then headed out to the mall.

I found everything I was looking for!

A new SD card, but also a lipstick for my bride (I like to give brides a lipstick so they can touch it up during the wedding).

I made some broccoli soup for dinner and watched some of the Eurovision song festival.

Wednesday

On Wednesday I woke up at 5.30 to head over to my bride’s house and do her hair and make up. This bride was the sister of a friend of mine so I already knew most of the family that was there during the preparations, it was really nice to see everybody so happy and excited. The bride’s hair and make up turned out great, and I ended up doing both sisters’ hair and the mom’s as well, before heading back home.

Halfway through the morning I received a message from my mom saying Maxen had passed away in his sleep during the night. I had been expecting this news and honestly, I had begun the mourning process on Monday already, so I was quite alright with it. I went over to my parents, realising on the way that I’d lost my public transport card. My brother picked me up at the airport where I got stranded, and we buried Maxen. I’m so glad he died peacefully of old age!

I went back to Utrecht again afterwards, and Robbert came over.

Thursday

On Thursday we spent pretty much all day in preparation for the “Wie Is De Mol” camp. We made dinner for Saturday when we’d organised a day trip to Utrecht, and finished a couple of graphics and games. I made us this fruit salad for lunch, which we’d almost forgotten about in all of the chaos, haha!

In the late afternoon my friends came over for Dungeons & Dragons. This pistachio ice cream with chocolate was divine.

It was a good session, as always! I got to use my most epic daily attack, haha!

Friday

Friday marked the first day of “Wie Is De Mol” camp. I sent this photo to Robbert to mark where I’d parked my bike, so he could pick it up on Saturday.

We packed our stuff, printed the final things, and then headed to scouting for all the final preparations. These were the groceries we did for all breakfasts, lunches and snacks.

Sunny day at the scouting!

In case you’re wondering what “Wie Is De Mol” camp is, which I can understand haha: “Wie Is De Mol” is a show on Dutch television, where a bunch of famous people go to some location (different every year) to do games and challenges to win money. The goal is to gather as much money as possible during the season, but one of the players, who is the mole, has to try and sabotage everything in order to make as little money as possible or even remove some money from the bank. The other players have to find out/guess who the mole is, and do tests at the end of every episode with questions relating to the mole and their behaviour in the games. The person with the least correct answers is eliminated from the game. The ultimate goal is of course to figure out who the mole is, and win the bank of the season. We play this game over the course of four days, with loads of games and activities, an outing to another city, and next to no sleep, haha! It’s always so much fun but super intense and quite stressy. Robbert organises the whole thing, and my role is to capture everything that happens on camera, including the players’ and mole’s private confessions. I then edit everything into episodes, which is one major job and starts right about now, haha! I have enough footage this year to make an entire season, so it’s going to take a while, but I’m excited for it.

This post is up a little bit later than usual because of camp and everything that happened before, but I’m hoping to be 100% back at work again tomorrow. Have a great week my lovely readers!
