Hello everybody,
Oh my, it’s been so long! I can’t believe I’ve been out of it for three weeks already. I’ve missed you guys a lot, so I thought today I’d share a little bit of what I’ve been up to with you.
Slovakia
I went to Slovakia and the Czech Republic to spend some quality time with my family. Nature is amazingly beautiful over there, and I was really glad to see everybody again.
Summer Camp
Robbert and I went on a four-day summer camp with our cubs scouts (boys and girls, they’re often mixed in the Netherlands).
On the first day, a pirate walked in to request our help. While he and his pirate rival were fighting over a treasure map, it tore to pieces and the pieces blew away! We helped retrieve all the pieces of the map during exciting games, challenges and activities, before of course finding the treasure and sharing the loot.
We’re very glad and relieved that the kids loved it as much as they did. It was our first summer camp and we organised it all by ourselves so we were pretty nervous, but everything went great and we had a lot of fun! The kids didn’t want to leave when it was over, which is a very good sign.
What Now?
Summer camp only ended yesterday. I’m taking it easy today, it was a pretty intense week and we didn’t get as much sleep as we should have. Tomorrow, I’m going to help out with the younger kids’ summer camp (5-7 year olds, we call them beaver scouts). Next season, I’m going to leave the cubs and join the beaver scout team, so this is going to be my official introduction in the group. While on summer camp, I received a few exciting emails. One has to do with a publication that’s coming out next year, and one was a invitation to a job interview that I’m doing next week. So today I’m going to work on those two for a bit. I’m going to start vlogging again on monday, and start doing videos and blogposts on tuesday.
Can’t wait to see you guys then! What have you been up to this summer?
Oh my gosh, congratulations on the publication and the job interview! Good luck! I also think it's so amazing what you do with cubs and beavers, they are such fun groups to be part of and the leaders are always so inspirational – huge love to you and robert for doing that :) it certainly makes kids lives a lot more fun and exciting. x
Looks like a lot of fun and the scenery is gorgeous! Good luck with the interview! I haven't been on vacation at all this year but a friend and I are going NYC for the weekend to eat all the vegan food we can find! It's only 2 hours from where I live so not too exciting…
You have beavers too :) Our youngest scouts is also beavers, the older kids are wolfs and the oldest are juniors/seniors :)
I've been writing on my thesis like crazy for the last couple of weeks, but now it's almost done and if I pass I'll have my master degree (yay!). Anyway, so nice to read about what you've been up to. Looking forward to some new posts and videos :)
Slovakia / Czech Republic look amazing! Great job on organizing the summer camp – I know how hard it can be to organize and entertain young folks (but also very rewarding!!)!
Hope your interview goes excellently!
NIce to see you back!:)
