I found a hidden gem. In the beauty isle at Action, I saw this Argan Care conditioner. A quick scan of the ingredients showed me it doesn’t contain silicones, so in my basket it went. I wasn’t expecting much of a product that costs €1,60 but spoiler alert: I was very pleasantly surprised.
A couple of months ago I decided to cut silicone out of my hair care routine as much as possible, as I noticed most silicones only make my hair look dull and stringy. I also use a sulphate-free shampoo so I try to avoid silicone buildup. So far cutting down on silicones has been working great (I think my hair looks much better), but it’s quite hard to find good, silicone free products at a good price, especially conditioners. When I found this one I thought I’d give it a shot, can’t really go wrong at €1,60.
The conditioner is made by Max brands, who also do the makeup that’s sold at Action. Argan Care conditioner claims to be smoothing & moisturizing, nothing fancy but just what I’m looking for in a conditioner.
Let’s be honest here, the packaging is a little dull, although it could definitely be worse.
The product itself is very runny, much thinner than what I’m used to seeing in conditioners. The packaging is functional, it works well with this type of product and it’s easy to use in the shower (nothing worse than a twist-off cap, right?).
Argan Care conditioner has a very soft and subtle scent that I find hard to place, I guess it’s kind of floral.
On the back there’s a little information in many languages. The list of ingredients is as follows:
Aqua Water
Cetearyl alcohol A fatty alcohol
Cetrimonium chloride Surfactant, conditioning agent
Parfum
Argania spinosa kernel oil Argan oil
Citric acid
Methylchloroisothiazolinone Preservative
Methylisothiazolinone Preservative
Magnesium chloride Increases the thickness of the product
Magnesium nitrate Conditioning agent
Limonene Fragrance (citrus) & solvant
Hexyl cinnamal Fragrance (jasmine)
Linalool Fragrance (lavender)
The conditioner does leave my hair very soft and shiny. It’s not silicone-smooth but I’m only glad about that since that slippery silicone feeling always creeps me out a little bit. This feels like it’s not doing anything strange to my hair, just what it’s supposed to do: condition. I was very surprised by how pleasant this super inexpensive product is, there’s a good chance I’ll be re-purchasing this when I run out!
Oh, that sounds amazing! I gotta see whether I can find that one online somewhere. I only just got the ogx biotin and collagen shampoo because you were so satisfied with that brand, but the store didn’t have the matching conditioner.
