Lipland Liquid Lipstick Review

Not often does it happen that the mailman appears on my doorstep, delivering a completely unexpected package full of makeup. But alas, it has happened. Suddenly I found myself in possession of nine brand new matte tubes of Lipland liquid lipstick. I hadn’t heard of this brand before but the liquid lipsticks looked amazing, so I couldn’t wait to try them all out and share them with you. And here we are!

The Lipland liquid lipsticks came in two different types of packaging:

Lipland Liquid Lipstick

A rectangular, matte black box…

And a… Oh gosh, what’s this shape called? Triangle rectange? Hahaha! Anyways, a nice triangular box with a bow on top. This looks like it would make a really nice gift.

The lipsticks don’t seem to be from two different ranges or collections so I’m not sure why there are two types of boxes, but both look really nice. Inside there’s a matte glass tube filled with product. The tube looks really luxurious and elegant, in my opinion. Inside there’s a doe foot applicator.

The box says that Lipland liquid lipsticks are cruelty free and formulated without phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, gluten, mineral oil or parabens, which is nice to know if you have any allergies.

I received nine colours: three are from the metallic line, and the rest are matte. Let’s take a closer look at them, starting with the metallics.

Immortal

Lipland Immortal

Immortal is a metallic golden colour. Gorgeous as a swatch, but doesn’t suit me AT ALL. I might actually use this one on my eyelids instead, haha! I’m wearing two coats in this picture by the way, and I feel like my lips are shining through just a tad. I think this one would perform better on top of a base of foundation or concealer, as it’s so light.

Atomic

Lipland Atomic

The top photo is a little over-exposed, Atomic is actually quite a bronzy, warm metallic shade. I didn’t think I would like this one but I really do! It’s very flattering. This one I’d probably also wear over a neutral base to get a better colour payoff, but as it’s a darker colour it works over my natural lip colour as well.

Oblivion

Oblivion is one of my personal favourites! I’ve noticed I’m more into the traditional colours, haha! I love all the greyish, taupeish, typical liquid lipstick colours in photos but they look a bit odd in real life. This one is actually really flattering. It’s very similar to Atomic, but a little deeper, and I feel like it’s a little more pigmented too.

Moving on to the mattes!

Fifty-Fifty

Lipland Fifty-Fifty

Lipland Fifty-Fifty

Fifty-fifty is a light, taupe-ish pink (?). This one has really good coverage and is one that I would actually wear. It comes off a little bit grey on me, but that’s a trendy look right now and something that just takes some getting used to. I suspect this one will really grow on me! The coverage is great by the way, this is one coat.

Aventus

Grey brown. That’s how I would describe Aventus. I can’t for the life of me tell whether this is a warm or cool colour, but I do know it’s the first brown lip colour I’ve ever tried that I feel actually looks good on me. Yay for that! The coverage of this one is amazing, it’s intensely pigmented. What’s really odd is how extremely different this colour looks on everybody. I tried googling swatches of it and I’ve seen it range from nude pink on some to gray to straight up orange on others. Very unique shade!

Temple

Temple is another greyish pink, with a little bit more of a purple undertone than Fifty-Fifty. It’s a little bit of a cooler colour.

Empire

Lipland Empire

Lipland Empire

A warmer brown! This is a shade that’s again really hard to describe. This one also suits me a lot better than I was expecting, it almost leans towards a red tone. I really like this one!

Nirvana

Lipland Nirvana

Nirvana is quite a bright purple colour. I’m not a big fan of this one personally as I don’t really like bright, blue-ish purple on the lips, but the lipstick itself is good, it covers in one layer.

Gilt

Lipland Gilt

Lipland Gilt

YES! Now this is a purple that I do like. Let’s please ignore how terribly I’ve applied this, I was battling agains the quickly disappearing sun. Anyways, how GORGEOUS is this colour? Against all expectations, I think Gilt is my favourite out of them all. This is just one layer, it’s extremely intense!

Lipland Liquid Lipstick

A few things I’ve learned from writing this post:
1. I absolutely cannot apply liquid lipstick under time pressure
2. Grey lipstick is one of the things our kids will laugh at us for in 15 years
3. Warm gold never works on my face

Alright. My verdict? Lipland liquid lipsticks are amazing quality products, in gorgeous trend colours. They are highly pigmented, longlasting (they survive a meal), and dry down very comfortably. They don’t feel drying on the lips, if anything I’d say they stay a tiny bit sticky, but I’ll take sticky over paper-lips any day.
I’m very, very pleasantly surprised with these and you’ll see me wearing them for sure! All of these are available from the Lipland webshop for $18,99, which I think is a fair price for this quality.
