Armed with all the tips you guys gave me last time I tried wet set pin curls in my hair, I’m now ready to try again. I’ve got my setting lotion, I’m ready to sleep in my pins, so let’s see how it goes. Welcome to The Pin Curl Diaries!

You mention setting lotion in many videos, but not what you are using. What setting lotion do you use?
In this video I was using Kruidvat Haarversteviger. I use Lottabody setting lotion now, but I found out it’s not vegan after I received it so I haven’t been very vocal about using it (I’d rather not promote it). Hope that helps! :)
Whenever I make pin curls, I take a small glass vial, about the size of a 1/4” curling wand (since I don’t have a curling iron but do have weird stuff like vials), and use that instead of wrapping the hair with my fingers. It’s so much faster, and the curls are more consistent. You could probably use a cool curling wand, too, since you probably don’t have random stuff lying around your home.
I watched this video this morning, this attempt way fantastic! You reminded me of Ingrid Bergman in Hitchcock’s “Notorious” and “Spellbound”.
It also made me wonder how girls ever got ready to go out in the 40’s, so much preparation and planning – but so worth the effort :) xx
I think it looks awesome! I also like the way it is curled back in the front, but I like having hair smoothed back . Maybe that’s why :)
I wondered if you could suggest some hairstyles for wedding guests? I know you’ve done something like it before, but could you try to make some specified for people with fine and straight hair? Perhaps some where you keep it straight, but get volume and a little more “excitement” ? :)
