Happy Monday my lovely readers, I hope you’re all doing well. I’m back with another photo diary! Last week was a good one. It was busy, but all the things I got to do were really fun. It left me in that weird state of being physically tired, but full of energy at the same time. Let’s take a look at all I was up to!
Leftovers for lunch, my favourite. This is bulgur with roasted veggies and falafel, yum!
You can’t really see well in this photo as my phone refused to focus on the plant, but my basil is in bloom! This is a supermarket basil plant which has survived for months (don’t ask me how, I honestly don’t know) and now it’s grown flowers. Basil flowers are really pretty, apparently :)
Dance rehearsal in the evening. Our shows are coming up really soon so we’ve been working hard at perfecting the dance!
On Tuesday morning I wanted to start filming a What I Eat In A Day video, so I screwed my tripod onto the vlogging camera… and it snapped off. With the little screw thingy still inside. Most of you advised me to try to glue something to it and unscrew it when it dries, so I’m going to try that. If it doesn’t work I’m going to have to take my camera to a repair shop. I’m going to try it this week, and have another go at filming that video. You will get it soon, no worries :)
We’re still trying to treat Pádraig’s inner ear infection. It’s been months now and I don’t think the antibiotics we were giving him are very effective as his head is still tilted and he’s sneezing, so I went back to the vet to see if we could try something else. We’ve started him on another antibiotic now so fingers crossed! Diarmuid came along to provide moral support. And eat chicory. Priorities.
My brother came over in the afternoon and we went skating at the park. We’re doing this pretty regularly now and I love it! I get to spend some quality time with my brother and exercise in a way that’s actually fun.
He stayed for dinner and I made pesto pasta upon request.
We had pear juice popsicles for dessert, and gave the sticks to the ratties afterwards. They greatly enjoyed chewing them up, haha :)
Sewing our first aid badges onto our uniforms! We did a first aid course at scouting last week, and now that we’re qualified we get to wear the official first aid badges.
OOTD on Thursday. This jumpsuit is among my absolute favourite pieces of clothing. I could happily wear it every day!
I met up with a few friends from university at The Streetfood Club in Utrecht, a new hotspot I’ve wanted to visit for a while. The food was amazing and it was really nice to catch up with my friends who I hadn’t seen in a long time!
In the evening I changed into a different jumpsuit and Robbert and I headed to the Best Social Awards, an award show for social media users and personalities. I wasn’t nominated for any awards but I was invited, so we went to check it out. I always feel really out of place at events like these, like I ended up there by accident and shouldn’t actually be there. Any event that’s exclusive and/or where I appear as a public figure brings out my impostor syndrome in full force and it’s the strangest feeling ever. I kind of want to make a Tea Time video on the topic of impostor syndrome soon, as I think it’s quite fascinating. Anyways, Robbert and I enjoyed ourselves and it ended up being a fun night :)
On Friday I made stuffed peppers for dinner. Yum yum!
Saturday morning Robbert left for a week long business trip to New York. This is the first time I’m going to be alone in this house for such a long time, so I’m curious to see what the experience will be like.
Now that there are only young ratties living in the palace, I wanted to change the cage setup from senior safety mode to adventurous exploring. I’m going to switch things up more often now so that the boys don’t get bored.
In the evening I went to see Shakira! My friend had a ticket left as the person she was supposed to go with couldn’t come, so I joined her instead. I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of Shakira, but I do like her music and she is a really great performer. The show was amazing! We had a great time.
A nice Sunday lunch with fresh buns from the oven and a little simple salad.
In the afternoon I headed over to my dance school and the theatre in my home town for our first dance performance of the season! As you can see, we’re doing a witch dance this year, among others :) We’re going to perform this one a few more times and I’m really excited. I think it’s one of my favourite ones we’ve ever done.
After the performance I hopped straight on the train and went over to Utrecht, to meet up with my friends from Dublin and a few friends from university. We had mezze at Badhu and the food was incredible. Highly recommend checking this restaurant out if you’re ever in Utrecht!
Oh, Utrecht. I’m slowly coming to terms with living in Amsterdam (actually I just tell myself I live in my hometown now, as it’s literally 2 minutes away and I spend most of my time there anyway), but whenever I come back here I can feel the sting in my heart. I still miss Utrecht like crazy, it’ll forever be a place I love to return to.
After I came home I took the ratties out to roam and cuddle.
<3
And that’s the end of my week! Like I mentioned, Robbert is away so I’m home alone this week. So far I’m enjoying the freedom but I’m pretty sure I’ll be wishing for him to come back ASAP withing a couple of days, haha! Luckily I have lots of activities planned again this week so time should fly by. I’ll talk to you soon, guys!
You look beautiful in both jumpsuits! What an eventful week!
When I was reading the part about the social media event I was thinking that what you were describing sounded like impostor syndrome and in the next line you mentioned exactly that. I’d love to watch a Tea Time video about it, because I relate to this so much.
