In today’s episode of Style Revival I’m going to pull inspiration from Edwardian era fashion and beauty trends, to create a modern, wearable head-to-toe look with historical vibes. It’s going to be a heavily modernised one this time, keep your eyes peeled for a more authentic version when I finally come across the perfect high-neck blouse!
You look so cute here! I enjoy seeing all of your modern ideas for historical looks. Edwardian hair is also one of my favorite historical hair eras.
For Edwardian-inspired shirts and skirts, believe it or not, the 80s is a great decade for that. Not the extravagant, over-the-top 80s that we normally think of. But, kind of like a more toned-down, business-like 80s. I don’t wear vintage every day, but I do sometimes (thank goodness for Etsy!). Just recently I found a wonderful Edwardian-inspired white blouse from the 80s era. There were actually quite a few floating around out there, so you’d be surprised what you can find. There are actual Edwardian shirts that you can sometimes find, but they can be cost prohibitive, and I get nervous about caring for a fabric that old.
Same idea for skirts. Maxi-skirts (or long skirts) from the 80s, especially with buttons up the front, can look very cool and very Edwardian-inspired.
I think even the later 70s and early 90s had tops and bottoms that remind me of Edwardian fashion.
I would love to see you do a “Restoration” look, or a look inspired by the “Restoration.” These looks varied from the austere, Puritan looks, to the royal, ostentatious looks. I would love to see your modern version of that period.
