Happy Monday everybody, and happy October! I’m extra glad the first of the month is a Monday, it makes all my planners and calendars look that much better. Halloween is getting closer, pumpkin season is upon us, and I’ve fully gotten into the autumn mood.
Today I’m back with a new photo diary, showing you what I was up to last week through the pictures on my phone. Let’s take a look!
Twice the size, twice the fun :) It doesn’t matter how much money I spend on fancy cage decor and toys, the rats’ favourite thing is always a simple box.
Cycling home from dance class on Monday I was followed by this amazing, giant moon. It was so large and bright!
On Tuesday I asked my brother to come over and teach me some new editing techniques. When it comes to video editing, I feel like I’ve stood still for years where I could’ve made huge progress. Editing isn’t my favourite thing to do so I usually just try to get it done as quickly as possible, but I really feel like doing a better job would help my channel a lot and help me feel more proud of what I’m publishing. I get overwhelmed with all the options though, so I asked for the help of my brother who’s much better at these things. He showed me a few tricks here and there that should help me elevate my edits. After he left I spent the rest of the day editing my food diary video, and all of the next day as well. It took so much longer to edit than usual, but I had a lot of fun with it and am very proud of the result!
I’m still on that nasty echinacea and elderberry drink. It’s gross, but that cold that was creeping up went away before it became anything more serious which is great. I’m going to keep taking this until I finish the bottle, at least. The rats are getting it as well as this is a risky time of the year for them, and they haven’t gotten sick yet either *knock on wood*!
As it’s been colder and rainier, I haven’t spent as much time tending to my herbs and they were in dire need of a trim. I cut off all the dead bits and watered them well. Hopefully they make it through the winter.
My poor boxwood definitely needs some TLC as well. This is the side that was turned towards the wall all summer, and I only realised now I should probably have rotated it regularly so that it could get sunlight from all sides. I cut off a big chunk of the dead leaves and am hoping it can still recover. Fingers crossed!
Robbert and I went over to our friend’s house for Dungeons & Dragons. I find it pretty incredible we’ve been playing for over five years and are still going strong.
On Wednesday evening I took my friend to see A Star Is Born, with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. It was the first screening in the Netherlands so a bit of a fancy event!
The only photos I could find of myself are these quite unflattering ones, haha!
The movie itself was very, very good. I wasn’t expecting much and was positively surprised. I’d definitely like to see it again, if you get the chance do check it out!
Robbert’s been working from home an extra day every week so he’s been getting outlawed when I need to film more often, haha! Luckily the weather was pretty nice this week so he spent an afternoon on the balcony. I’m planning to clean and oil all the furniture soon, and probably the tiles as well, to get ready for winter.
Work mode on.
Ladies and gentlemen, I still haven’t given up running. It’s a miracle and I have no idea how I’m doing it. I still don’t particularly enjoy running, but regularly feel like going out for a short run and actually do it too. Just going to go ahead and pat myself on the back for that, haha! Something I do need to do if I want to keep this up, is improve my running technique. I notice my knees feel sore sometimes afterwards and that’s really not good, so I need to change that ASAP.
Very eager ratties as I’m filling their food bowl, haha! I love having four ratties again, they’re such a happy bunch.
At scouting on Friday evening we made rockets with the teens. They have actual little engines inside and we’re going to launch them next week at the beginning of our meeting, when it’s still light out. This is mine and I’m really proud of it even though it looks horrible, haha! It has a little parachure inside that should pop out when it’s launched :) Can’t wait to see what it does next week!
Baby cuddles! I’m always fascinated by how much of a different personality every rat has. These boys climb onto my shoulders all the time and enjoy being carried around that way. I’ve never had a rat do that before, in fact most of my previous boys didn’t like sitting on my shoulder at all. These will climb up your leg when you stand close to them to get onto your shoulder, haha!
On Saturday I went to the LINDA. festival with my mom. We had a great time there last year so we decided to come again, and it was absolutely amazing. We got facials and massages, did some shopping, saw lots of celebrities, had great food and drinks… It was a blast.
I got us these amazing mermaid and unicorn cupcakes. Aren’t they incredible? I don’t think I’ve ever gotten stopped by so many people before as I did while carrying these to my mom, haha! Everybody agreed they’re almost too nice to eat. Almost :)
We ended the day with an Ali B concert and headed back home.
On Sunday I spent most of the day at scouting again, planning a weekend away with the kids in a few weeks. When I got home I took it easy and watched a bunch of YouTuber weddings, as you do :)
I hope you have a wonderful week ahead of you, talk to you soon!
Thanks! I use Adobe Premiere Elements, but I know that there are others out there, some better. I mostly make home movies, which I really enjoy doing.
I like your videos about all of the behind-the-scenes and technical aspects of your filming; lighting, cameras & equipment, software. I’m a film nerd haha!
So cool that your brother taught you some new video editing techniques. Which video editing program do you use? I thought your food diary editing was nice, I could see some differences with it.
Thanks! I use Vegas Pro :)
