Happy Monday my lovely readers!
Today I’d like to share a plog of last week with you. Like a vlog, but in photos! I took snaps of everything I did and here’s the compilation. Let’s have a look at what went on in Loepsie’s Life!
Thursday
Morning! This is the day I tried out straw curls and realised this method isn’t something I like. At all. The curls were looking funnier and funnier as the day went on so I decided to put my hair up in a ponytail, which somehow always helps.
OOTD! My new favourite sweater (which I got in pink and grey because, you know, it’s my new favourite sweater), and a pair of black jeans.
The day consisted of mostly a lot of editing and writing behind my laptop, with countless cups of tea. How cute is this leaf tea strainer?? I found it at Action a while ago in a set with a glass mug with a charcoal label and a piece of charcoal for around €1,50. I can’t get over that store.
The construction workers are making a lot of progress with the street renovation! They’re turning a busy crossroads into more of a square that’s very pedestrian and cyclist friendly. I’m super excited because it’s looking amazing, there are going to be more plants, the speed limit is going down in my street and they’ve removed the traffic lights so the amount of noise in my house is going to drop dramatically when they finish. For now the noise has increased, understandably, but I feel like at least the section in front of my house is nearly finished. Yay!
I had an appointment at the city hall to order my driver’s licence, since I’d passed my driving exam on Wednesday. It still hadn’t completely sunken in yet but this appointed made it feel a lot more real, the fact that I’m now a driver. Whut.
It takes a week to process the application, so I’ll have to wait a little while longer before I can actually get in a car.
Robbert had a horrible journey to Utrecht and came late this evening, so I decided to surprise him with a made-up dinner table with candles and a delicious grilled vegetable lasagna. We usually just eat on the bed since my room is so small, and this is about as fancy as I can make it in my space, haha! It did cheer him up, luckily.
Friday
On Friday I had time to shoot some more blog & YouTube material. This was the setup I made for photos of the grilled vegetable lasagna, we had a little left and it was so good that I wanted to share the recipe on here. This is another one of those non-charming looking dishes that are hard to photograph nicely, but I think I did the best I could in the end, haha!
I spent most of this day filming the April Fool’s Beauty Beacons of Black Metal video, which was loads of fun to film. These guys’ corpse paints are gorgeous and some were actually really complicated to recreate, the whole video took me over a day to produce in the end. It was definitely worth it though!
Robbert left for scouting in the afternoon, and I realised that the black metal video took quite a toll on my skin. Removing four full faces of grease paint in a row is not something my skin likes, apparently. Here it is after filming, all red and irritated.
I thought a skin pamper would be a good idea, and this face mask was part of it. This was my first time wearing a sheet mask and I kept freaking out a little whenever I glanced at myself in the mirror, haha! I spent the rest of the evening watching The Voice Kids while my skin soaked up lots of oily goodness.
Saturday
There was no scouting this morning because of the Easter weekend, so I stayed home in Utrecht and did some more filming. This is my good side.
I filmed the Beauty Beacons video for Agnès Sorel, finally a medieval lady again! I’m fascinated by the middle ages, but they’re such a hard time to make beauty tutorials for since there is hardly any contemporary image material of secular ladies from this time.
Afterwards I took some ‘face of the day‘ photos and then I got ready to go to Robbert’s house.
Where we hung out with his family a little and then had dinner, which ended with this amazing fruit salad for dessert. Can’t beat fresh fruit, so delicious!
Afterwards Robbert and I went bowling with my parents and brother. It was lots of fun but I’m the worst at bowling, haha! As you can see, I hit a grand total of one pin this round. You don’t get very far if you can’t even lift the ball properly…
Sunday
On Sunday I did some editing and database work, and Robbert and I watched some TV shows. We’ve been watching The Magicians lately, but pretty much just because I want to know how it ends, haha! The story and script aren’t that great but I like the aesthetics of the show. We’ll have to see if we ever start watching season two, or whether it’ll end up like Salem which we just lost interest in after a while.
In the afternoon I went out to dinner with my family to celebrate my mom’s birthday, and we had a cocktail to top it off. Yum!
Monday
Monday morning, the second day of Easter (yep, two days of Easter over here), I had to miss Easter brunch because I had to run out early. I quickly ate this bunny bread and had a glass of orange juice.
Then I was off to the scouting because today I had…
An emergency first response course! I learned primary & secondary care and CPR, so now I’m certified in First Aid and know what to do if something bad happens. It was a very long day but I’m glad I went, I learned lots of new things and it feels good to know how to act in emergencies.
Tuesday
On Tuesday we gave the trip to the Efteling another go. We had planned to go the week before but couldn’t go because of train trouble, and then we couldn’t do anything else because of the Brussels attacks, so we had a re-match today and it was successful!
We had a great day even though the park was a little crowded and it was raining on and off. I absolutely love the Efteling and I could seriously live there if I got the chance.
Trying to take a selfie with Robbert is never a good idea…
I vlogged all of this day if you’d like to see what we were up to in the Efteling! Make sure to turn on the captions for English subtitles.
Wednesday
Good morning from the baby ratties
And lazy grandpa rat!
I left early this morning to head back to Utrecht and get some work done. I picked up my bike from the ginormous bike shed at Central Station and off I went!
Editing with tea, my daily routine…
Time to do the groceries! I’m trying to go to the store by foot more often now, to get some more movement in. It’s a small change and every little bit of extra movement helps towards being more fit and healthy.
Plus, the weather was amazing. By the way, looking back at these photos, I don’t understand how I’m STILL wearing this sweater. I promise I didn’t wear it consecutively since Thursday, hahaha!
Grocery haul! Muesli, bread, sandwich spread, soy milk, grapes and some herbs is all I needed this week since I’m not cooking dinner at all.
I noticed when I came home that my neighbour had already moved out (or at least had removed her belongings from the bathroom). I don’t know when the new tenant will be moving in so I decided to give the bathroom a good scrub down. For myself, but also for my new neighbour so she can move into a sparkly clean environment when she comes. It took me a while because I wanted to tackle absolutely everything, but it felt so good to look around at all the cleanness afterwards.
For dinner I had some leftover lentil soup that I’d frozen last week, and some falafel. Delicious!!! Robbert came over later this night.
Thursday
Time to edit the black metal Beauty Beacons video! It was a monster edit.
I tried to do some nail art in the meantime but as always, I failed miserably. I have to stop planning in nail art blogposts because I never end up being able to publish any, hahaha!
More editing… And tea!
Filming the Vivien Leigh Beauty Beacons video. I love the look of these small spiral curls.
In the middle of filming I suddenly got a major anxiety attack. I hadn’t experienced one in a while and this one was pretty bad too, not sure where it came from. I was able to finish the video somehow even though I had to re-do the intro several times and it took way longer than it usually does, but I think in the end it doesn’t show in the video, which I’m very glad about.
We decided to walk a part of the way to my friend’s house when we left to go to Dungeons & Dragons in the afternoon, which always helps me a lot. Fresh air + exercise are the best remedies against anxiety, and I felt a lot better when we arrived.
We also passed through a park where I discovered they have a small animal farm! It was closed now but I definitely want to go back there soon, the sign said they have piggies and I really want to go show them some love.
We arrived just in time, my friend had just finished cooking this delicious couscous dish. We always eat together before D&D and alternate who’s cooking dinner, next time is my turn to cook.
D&D time! We have two campaigns going at the moment and this one has always been very dramatic, but this session everything went quite smoothly. It was great fun, as always!
Friday
Morning! Today I filmed a makeup video for Loepsie’s Theetuin, my Dutch channel.
We’ve had some amazing weather this week, look at this blue sky! Gorgeous.
In the afternoon I had another appointment at the city hall, to pick up my driver’s license this time.
Aaaand voilà, here it is! And it’s pink! I’m very happy I’ve finally got this thingy, it took a lot of time and effort but I should have it for life now unless something strange happens.
I went back to my parents’ house where I was happily greeted by a trio of excited ratties who got loads of cuddles and treats and out-of-the-cage time. By the way, tearing tissues out of a box is still one of their favourite things to do. As you can see by the havoc behind them, haha!
So that was my week! I hope you enjoyed having a look at everything I did, have a great week everybody!
Loved it!
Hi Lucy. Recently I came across this independent fantasy series:
http://www.rentheseries.com
I thought you might like it. There are five episodes, each is about ten minutes long.
Ooh, thanks for sharing!
Loved this “plog”! :) Really enjoyed reading what you’ve been up to and the way you captured your week! Your blogs are just as entertaining and beautifully done as your videos, adore! xoxo
Thank you so much! I’d like to do these more often so that’s great to hear :D
Holy crap, they sell the same tea strainer around here, but it’s around 6-8 euros! Action sounds like more and more of a magical place.
In Austria it does take a while for you to get the actual driver’s license too, but you get a temporary license (really just a sheet of paper) as soon as you pass, so you can drive yourself home right away :)
(I didn’t notice that anything was off during the beauty beacons vid, well done!)
I’ve seen the strainer sold for that price online as well, good to know it’s probably only worth a couple of cents xD
I really liked this post, you had so much fun :) Congrats for your driving licence, your picture turned out great on it! :D Here in Hungary it takes even longer to get the card itself after the exam is done… there is plenty of time to get used to the idea, before you can actually legitimately drive :D
Haha thanks, I actually used the same picture I used for another document three years ago, I was wondering whether they’d accept it and they did. Saved a couple Euros O:)
