Utama Spice Natural Aromatherapy Products

A little beauty review for you today! I was contacted a while back by natural aromatherapy brand Utama Spice, asking me whether I’d like to try out some of their products. Utama Spice is a small business based in Ubud, Bali, who set up their business according to the traditional Tri Hitra Karana philosophy: living in harmony with nature, people and the divine. That sounds amazing to me, so of course I was more than happy to give them a try.

Utama Spice is an ethical company, employing a team of young, local women who hand-make the products using their traditional Balinese herbal knowledge. All products are 100% natural and cruelty free, and essential oils are their specialty. They sent me a couple of products, and I’d like to share my thoughts on them with you today!

Face Serum For Dry & Aging Skin

This 100% natural face serum helps restore your skins natural health. Made with organic argan oil, cocoa butter, virgin coconut oil, jojoba oil and pure essential oils. This face serum has been shown to really soften and condition skin, promoting healthy skin and making you look and feel younger.

Oil-based facial serums are quite possibly my favourite type of skin care. There’s nothing quite as rich, nourishing and moisturizing to dry skin. This natural face serum is based on argan, jojoba and coconut oil, and contains a blend of essential oils that make it smell absolutely divine. I’d describe the scent as a heavier floral, with lavender, rose geranium and patchouli.

The serum is meant to improve elasticity, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, promote glowing skin and hydrate. I haven’t been using it long enough to attest to its anti-aging properties, but I can tell you it’s a pleasure to use. The scent is amazing and the serum leaves the skin super hydrated and soft. I like using this before bed, so that my skin can absorb it overnight and I wake up with plump, healthy-looking skin in the morning.

Ingredients:
Argania Spinosa (Argan) Seed Oil, Simondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera ( Coconut) Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Cananga Odorata (Cananga) Flower Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Rose Geranium) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil

Wellkiss Hair Oil

Wellkiss Hair Oil is a delicate aromatherapy blend of fennel, lemon, essential oils, and coconut oil to restore your hair’s natural health.

Moving straight on to undoubtedly my favourite hair care product: hair oil! I’ve been raving about hair oil as the most important part of any hair routine since the beginning of my career, and I love trying out different kinds. The Wellkiss hair oil contains coconut, fennel, lavender, lemon, cananga and vetiver oils that come together in a uniquely scented hair oil. The smell is spicy floral, you can definitely smell the fennel but it’s surprisingly nice.

Fennel essential oil is supposed to help prevent hair loss, which is always a welcome effect. Coconut oil was my go-to hair oil of choice for many years, as you may remember if you’ve been with me for a while. This blend makes coconut oil easier to use as it doesn’t get as much of a chance to solidify in the colder Dutch climate. I’m currently using this in conjuction with my DIY hair oil, using one or the other depending on what scent I’m in the mood for.

The Welkiss hair oil does just what I expect of a hair oil: it leaves my hair nice and shiny, as well as thoroughly moisturized.

Ingredients:
Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Fruit Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Cananga Odorata (Cananga) Flower Oil, Vetiveria Zizanoides (Vetivert) Root Oil

Begone Bug Spray

One of Utama Spice’s most popular products, Begone Bug is a mix of essential oils traditionally known for their insect repellent properties. 100% natural, Begone Bug is safe for children, providing relief and protection from mosquitoes and other pests for the whole family.

I was really curious about this product when I saw it on the website. Many bug repellants contain toxins, and even though they work, I don’t always feel comfortable using them. Especially in situations when bugs are only annoying, not dangerous. This seems like a wonderful alternative! The Begone Bug spray contains citronella, clove and cajeput essential oils.

As autumn has well and truly settled over here, there aren’t currently any bugs around that I could test this with. I’m really excited to see how it performs come summer, though!

Peppermint & Cocoa Lip Balms

Utama Spice lip balms are made from virgin coconut oil and beeswax infused with natural plant extracts to nourish and hydrate your lips.

Utama Spice

Ahh, all natural lip balm! I like to have a stick in every one of my handbags, just so that I always have a lipbalm on me. These are based on coconut oil and beeswax. The cocoa kind also contains cocoa butter, vanilla and cinnamon, while the peppermint kind contains mint and peppermint.

They glide on easily, are moisturizing and very comfortable on the lips. Bonus: combining the two gives you a blend that tastes like After Eights :)

Ingredients cocoa lip balm:
Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Oil, Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla) Pod, Beeswax, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Cinnamomum (Cinnamon) Bark

Ingredients peppermint lip balm:
Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Beeswax, Mentha Arvensis (Mint) Leaf Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf

Bliss Aromatherapy Essential Oil Roller

Take your favorite essential oils with you wherever you go in this convenient roller form. Made with pure essential oils that revive the senses, this roller reduces anxiety and stress no matter where you are.

Utama Spice

If there’s ever been a person who could use some anxiety and stress relief… I’m kidding of course, but yes, sometimes it’s really nice to have a little escape, something to help you ground again and relax, even if just for a few seconds. Rolling on a calming essential oil blend can do that, if you’re sensitive to smell.

This blend contains lavender and bergamot, which are two of my favourite scents. The entire scent is very calming and pleasant. The essential oils are mixed with jojoba as a carrier oil, which makes them safe for topical application.

The roller is nice and small, which makes it easy to carry with you in your bag or pocket. Roll a little bit of the Bliss oil when you need to revive your senses. It works really nicely as a natural perfume, too!

I’m very happy with my new little collection of natural body care products! Each of them only contain a few ingredients, they’re all natural and smell amazing. If you’re looking for pure, ethically produced beauty products, I definitely recommend checking out Utama Spice.
