Hi there, welcome to Loepsie!
My name is Lucy, I’m a 24-year-old from the Netherlands with a lifelong passion for beauty. Back in 2008 I started my YouTube channel Loepsie, which I filled with tutorials for styling long hair. As my viewership grew, the topics on my channel expanded to include makeup, fashion, lifestyle, historical hair styling and personal videos. Loepsie now has over 100.000 subscribers, which is incredible and absolutely amazing to me. My channel is my little baby, a passion project spanning almost a decade of my life (which is a LOT, at this age!), which I’m hoping to nurture for many more years to come.
By the time I graduated from uni in 2014, I had a strong itch to start writing. I’d been following and loving blogs for years and thought it high time to start my own, so Loepsie.com was born. I use this blog as an outlet to share… well, anything that’s on my mind, really. I’m usually more comfortable talking about very personal or more controversial topics in a written format, so whenever I need to get something off my chest, you’ll find it here. I post weekly photo diaries where you can get a peek into my personal life, and also like to share fashion look-books, hauls, and product reviews on here. And let’s not forget recipes! I love to cook and share my recipes whenever I come up with something delicious. Always veggie friendly!
In January 2016, I felt it was time for something new, so I started a YouTube channel all in Dutch. Loepsie NL is where I interact with my Dutch audience, and where I share content specifically tailored for the ladies in this “flat frog land”, as we lovingly call it ourselves. Starting this channel has re-kindled an old fire within me and brought me a new spark of inspiration and motivation for all my projects. I’m super happy to watch this little, new channel grow!
Now on a more personal level (that’s what this blog is all about, after all):
As a teen, I followed VWO education in the Netherlands. The school system is rather complicated over here but in short, that’s the type of high school that allows you to go to uni afterwards. While I was in high school, I decided I wanted to be a makeup artist, so I got a MUA diploma which I now use to do freelance makeup work every now and then (brides are my fav). After graduating high school, I went on to study Celtic Languages and Culture at Utrecht University, where I learned Old Irish and Middle Welsh, along with more dead languages, medieval history, art history, and medieval Celtic literature. I moved out of my parents’ house and into Amsterdam with a friend, which in hindsight may have been the worst decision of my life. I was miserable there, but after two years I finally took the leap and moved to Utrecht by myself. This, in turn, may have been the best decision I made in my life. I’m now extremely happy in my little studio apartment in this beautiful, amazing city which keeps stealing my heart more and more every single day.
Loepsie is my full-time occupation. Besides being a passion project and my greatest love, it’s also become a business which I take very seriously.
I also help my dad out with the AI he’s developing as my second job, to make ends meet 🙂
Besides working, I love to knit, crochet, draw and paint. Cooking (and eating) is something that makes me happy, and I have a strong passion for tea. I really, really like tea. I have a harp that sits untouched way too often, and a bodhrán that will remain untouched until I move somewhere that doesn’t have paper walls.
I have the sweetest, most amazing boyfriend, Robbert, who used to be my classmate in high school. We’ve been together since 2011 and he never fails to put a smile on my face. This man is making me a very happy girl.
I’ve also been a rat owner since 2012. Yeah, a rat owner. Rats are the most loving, intelligent and friendly creatures, not to mention their adorableness. Their short life span breaks my heart, but the joy they bring is all worth it. The ratties are living at my parents’ until I move into a bigger place.
I think that’s about all for now! Let’s not make this page too long, you’ll get to know me better as you read my posts if you stay. Enjoy browsing!
