Falling Leaves | OOTD

There is no season that inspires me like autumn does. This stage when there are still leaves on the trees but the ground is covered in hues of red, orange and brown, is my absolute favourite. Everything is changing, we spend more time indoors with the candles on, and the air outside is crisp. It’s just a super productive time of year, inbetween the summer holiday and Christmas break, and I love it.

Autumn is also the time of year when I feel the most comfortable in my clothes. I feel like the fashion of this season fits me well and not only goes with the colouring of my skin and hair, but my character as well. For today’s outfit I’ve done something which for some reason always seems a no-go in my head: combining black and brown. I’m not sure why, but I tend to always go for either black or brown as a base colour for my outfits. Such a shame, since these two actually go great together! I’d like to wear black and brown together more often. I might actually start a Pinterest board to find some inspiration, haha!

By the way, in case you notice something different about my hair: I received a new set of hair extensions earlier this week and they are an absolutely perfect match to my hair colour. It’s almost uncanny how well they match. They have that typical greenish undertone with red tones that my hair has, and I’ve never seen that in hair extensions before. You literally can’t see where my hair ends and the extensions start at all. I’m so excited about this that I actually wear them out in day to day life, which I normally never do. There’ll be a video up with them soon!

Denim & Pumpkin Coloured Flanel | OOTD

Whenever I come home from a shopping trip, the first thing I want to do is make outfits with my new items. I can’t be the only one, right? 🙂 Last week Robbert and I made our periodical trip to Primark and I got myself some autumnal basics. Mostly a pile of tights, but I also got this extra long flanel shirt which is absolutely perfect for this season. The colour combination isn’t something I’d usually wear, but it works wonderfully.

It’s been a long time coming, but I also finally got my hands on some nice brown boots that I really like. I don’t know what it is but I struggle with finding good brown shoes so much. Blame it on my love for black, haha! This pair which I found at Primark is very minimal and basic but elegant, exactly how I like it. As both of these new items go perfectly together, I paired them together in a casual autumnal outfit. I find myself gravitating towards simple, more basic outfits more and more as I get older, but I try to make sure they’re not plain or boring. To me, at least 🙂

Transitional Vintage | OOTD

We’ve gotten lucky. Autumn has officially begun, but we’re getting a bout of perfect late summer weather in the Netherlands this week! Now, I’m a little embarrassed to admit this, but I’ve had an outfit waiting around for this exact type of weather, and I’m super excited I get to wear it now. It’s the ideal late summer/early autumn transitional outfit which mixes two of my favourite colours: summery pink and autumnal burgundy. These aren’t colours I’d normally combine, but in this outfit I feel like it works wonderfully. Plus, I finally get to properly feature my beautiful retro 50’s dress! This is definitely one of my favourite outfits in a long time. I feel like it’s very 2017 Lucy: classy casual with a touch of retro. I’ve found myself gravitating towards this kind of style a lot lately. This outfit is also a perfect excuse to wear my shiny burgundy shoes, which have proven to be very difficult to combine. They go so well with my new little backpack! Love it.
