It's always time for tea

Transitional Vintage | OOTD

We’ve gotten lucky. Autumn has officially begun, but we’re getting a bout of perfect late summer weather in the Netherlands this week! Now, I’m a little embarrassed to admit this, but I’ve had an outfit waiting around for this exact type of weather, and I’m super excited I get to wear it now. It’s the ideal late summer/early autumn transitional outfit which mixes two of my favourite colours: summery pink and autumnal burgundy. These aren’t colours I’d normally combine, but in this outfit I feel like it works wonderfully. Plus, I finally get to properly feature my beautiful retro 50’s dress! This is definitely one of my favourite outfits in a long time. I feel like it’s very 2017 Lucy: classy casual with a touch of retro. I’ve found myself gravitating towards this kind of style a lot lately. This outfit is also a perfect excuse to wear my shiny burgundy shoes, which have proven to be very difficult to combine. They go so well with my new little backpack! Love it.

My Favourite Playsuit | OOTD

Ok, I think I’ve got a new favourite outfit. I say this a lot but hey, I think I deserve at least one for every type of weather, don’t I? 🙂

I got this playsuit a few weeks back and couldn’t wait for temperatures to go up so that I could wear it. This piece is definitely on the more daring side for me as there’s not that much fabric involved, but for some reason I absolutely love it. It suits my body type well and it’s not so revealing that it becomes vulgar, in my opinion. It’s just right for those warmest of days. Plus, this black fabric with pink florals? You have to agree it screams my name.

The top pretty much just consist of two pieces of fabric knotted together in the front, and I decided to cover a large part of the gap beneath the knot by wearing a black lace bralette underneath. I actually think it works really well. There’s still a tiny bit of skin showing, but not too much.

Enough about the playsuit, can we just talk about these shoes for a bit!? I fell in love with these at first glance, at Primark. Yes, Primark. This pair must be up there with the most gorgeous shoes I’ve ever owned, and they were super inexpensive. I put some gel soles in there and now they’re surprisingly comfortable, so I really hope they last me a long time and I get a lot of wear out of them. I certainly intend to.

Style Revival: Regency

Oh yes, Style Revival is here! I’ve had the idea for a series where I do modern takes on historical looks for a while, but it took me a while to figure out the format I wanted to do and come up with a good title. Now I’m all ready to go so I proudly present to you: the first episode of Style Revival! In this episode I’m going to pull the regency era style into modern times to create a wearable head to toe look inspired by the time of Jane Austen novels. Hope you enjoy! 🙂
