Style Revival: Regency

Oh yes, Style Revival is here! I’ve had the idea for a series where I do modern takes on historical looks for a while, but it took me a while to figure out the format I wanted to do and come up with a good title. Now I’m all ready to go so I proudly present to you: the first episode of Style Revival! In this episode I’m going to pull the regency era style into modern times to create a wearable head to toe look inspired by the time of Jane Austen novels. Hope you enjoy! 🙂

Vintage Vibes | OOTD

A few weeks back I spotted this mid-length skirt in a clothing store, and instantly fell in love. I didn’t quite know how I wanted to combine it yet, but I knew it was definitely a piece that belonged in my wardrobe. The skirt itself has a very granny-like feel, but I thought I should be able to pull it off if I combine it with an edgier printed t-shirt or something. Another small exemple of how life takes us in different directions.

As I was filming a historical hairstyling video one day, I decided to pair the skirt with this bee printed cardigan and go full librarian instead. I loved it. I ended up taking it all the way and producing the most old-fashioned and un-modern outfit ever, and (hopefully) rocking that. I feel strangely comfortable in it, bet it’s my inner librarian coming out. The intention to combine this skirt in a hip, modern way is still there but so far I’ve been loving these vintage vibes. To be continued..?

The whole season is now streaming of Hulu, so be sure to check it out if you can’t get enough of these looks!

Elfia Costume | OOTD

Elfia was last weekend! Those of you that have been following me for a long time will probably have heard of an event called the Elf Fantasy Fair before. It used to be a really big deal for me and I would talk about it a lot, while I was figuring out what to wear and how to do my hair. I’ve even vlogged there a couple of times! They re-named the event to Elfia a few years back. I realised when I was there last weekend that the first time I visited was in 2007, exactly 10 years ago. How nice that this should also be the 25th edition of Elfia altogether.

My parents gifted me this beautiful set of wings for Christmas, and I knew right away I wanted to build a costume around them. I’ve been wearing black, gothicky outfits to Elfia for years now and I’ve been wanting to change things up for a while. This was the perfect opportunity! I decided to make an entirely new costume.
