My All Time Favourite Lipsticks

Over the past years, lipstick has made its way to the top of my favourite beauty product list. As my daily makeup routine has simplified to where it’s little more than concealer and mascara, lipstick has become the thing that “makes” my look. I love wearing a neutral look with a lip shade that pops. There’s a whole drawer in my makeup cabinet dedicated to lip products but in truth, there are only five shades I keep reaching for again and again. I’ve been wearing all of these for years and they will remain in my collection until they’re pushed out by something better (which won’t happen easily). In this post I’d love to share my all time favourite lipsticks with you: the ones that tick all the boxes when it comes to colour, intensity, hold and comfort.

NYX Liquid Suede in Soft-Spoken

Soft-Spoken is my go to shade when I’m looking for something neutral, but on the cooler side. The dusty rose colour looks great with my pale olive skin, although it doesn’t always match well with other colours so I have to beware of what colour top I’m wearing. With black or white though, this is one of my most flattering shades. The Liquid Suede line by NYX was super popular a few years back and rightfully so: all the shades I own are extremely comfortable to wear, long lasting, and very pigmented. Definitely a great place to start if you’re looking for liquid lipstick.

Maybelline Super Stay 24Color in Pink Spice

I originally bought this lipstick when I was looking for a natural looking, rosy shade in an ultra longlasting formula for a bride whose makeup I was doing. I got a couple of shades from this line and this particular one was too dark on her (she was a blonde). Since I’d already bought it I thought I might as well try it on myself, and it turned out to be pretty much my perfect everyday lipstick. This shade goes with literally everything and every occasion. It looks like it belongs on my face, being pretty natural but still looking made up in a subtle way. The formula lasts all day and is really comfortable to wear. I never would’ve picked out this colour for myself but it’s quickly become my most worn lipstick and I couldn’t be without it now.

Sleek Matte Me in Bittersweet

This is the oldest lipstick from this list, and in fact it’s one of my first ever liquid lipsticks. It’s the brightest pink in my collection that I feel I can still pull off; very bright pinks usually don’t look that great on me. I think this one is wearable because of the slightly dusty undertone again, which pretty much disappears on my skin tone and leaves a beautiful, fresh pink that’s actually flattering. This colour will last for hours and is really pigmented, contrary to some other shades I’ve tried from this line.
I keep coming back to this colour every year around spring and summer.

NYX Full Throttle Firestorm

Ah, here it is. My go-to bright red! If you ask me, this is the perfect lipstick. Everything from the colour to the formula is flawless, and I can hardly believe I’m saying that. This lipstick just blows me away. It glides right on with an almost oily smoothness, which mattifies instantly but remains very comfortable on the lips. The pigmentation is intense and covers in one layer. The colour is the perfect neutral/cool shade of red for me and I get compliments whenever I wear this in videos.

NYX Liquid Suede in Cherry Skies

Last but not least, Cherry Skies. This is my favourite deep red for days when I’m looking for something more toned down or moody than Firestorm. This is my go-to in autumn and winter as well as nights out, and I always feel very pretty when I wear it. Cherry Skies has the pleasant Liquid Suede formula, and I keep a mini version of this in my handbag as I have it on so often.

If you watch my videos, you will have seen me wear these time and time again. I honestly feel like I could get rid of my entire lipstick collection right now and just keep these five, and be perfectly content. Actually, it sounds drastic, but that might be happening soon as I’m growing tired of having such a massive collection. That’s a story for another time, though :)
