Organising With Binders

I consider myself an organised person. Having everything in its designated, functional space is one of the best stress relievers for me. An organised space = an organised mind! One of my favourite ways to organise is using binders. Read on to see how binders can make a big impact on small organising projects!

Home Management/Life Binder

The home management binder (which I like to call life binder, since I live alone) is an amazing thing for busy women. It can be a central hub for your home, where you keep track of everything that’s going on. It’s kinda hard to explain everything you can do with a life binder, so let’s just show you what I have inside mine.

The first page in my life binder is  a “peek at the week” page. This gives a quick overview of everything that needs to be done in a week. Above you can see my actual programme for this week- I have a lot of places to go and many things to do, this helps me take it all in visually.

This page also contains a to-do list, which I don’t usually use because my to-do lists are massive and need a separate notebook. It’s nice for, again, an overview. As you can see, I wrote “blogposts up to 6/7”. My to-do list notebook will then elaborate on that in greater detail and contain things like “take photo’s peach salad”, “write budgeting tips”, “edit & upload GRWM”.

The “to eat” and “to buy” sections are pretty self explanatory and come in really handy as reminders!

The next page is a weekly meal planner. Here I like to plan out what I’m going to have for breakfast, lunch and dinner all throughout the week. This way I can buy the right groceries to last me through the week and make sure I’ll be able to use everything up before the weekend comes around. I usually plan at least two meals that use many of the same ingredients. Since I live alone, I often can’t finish a whole eggplant (for example) in one night, so I will plan two dishes with eggplant for that week.

Then I have these monthly “date to remember” pages. I’m terrible with dates so this really helps me prevent those awkward unexpected birthday moments. I write the birthdays and wedding anniversaries etc. of everybody I know/like in there and just have a quick look at the end of each month, to see what’s going on the month after.

To see what else I keep in my life binder, and hear about some other possibilities, check out the video I did all about life binders:

Recipe Binder

Even though we have internet nowadays, I prefer to have my recipes on paper so I can safely bring them into the kitchen. In this binder I collect all recipes I cut from magazines or print off the internet. You can get dividers and organise your recipes by type.

Manual/Warranty Binder

Manuals and receipts are among the top things that get thrown into junk drawers or random boxes and are impossible to find when you need them.

This is one of those “why didn’t I think of this sooner” moments: just assign a binder to this purpose! Put the manual, receipt and warranty for one item in a sheet protector so they’re safely put away and you know exactly where they are!

Artwork Binder
Especially when you have children, art and school projects tend to pile up and form clutter. Assign a binder to each child to keep the highlights of their creative career in. Also applicable for creative adults, of course!

Budgeting Binder
A binder can be a great place to corrall all things budgeting. Keep track of income and bills, taxes, insurances…

Do you organise with binders? Do you have any more ideas on how to utilise binders in your household?

  1. Great ideas and inspiration. Did you find those Life Binder pages online to purchase or did you make them?

  2. I love these binder ideas. Especially the one for manuals! I never know where to keep those things.

  3. I have two binders at home – one for everything concerning my dog (like the vet statements, the adoption papers, etc.) and the other for my bills (the statements and when I paid them). I am in the process of making a recipe binder, since I also like to have my recipes on paper! They're so disorganized right now (just written down in a notebook and not in any order at all) and they are needing some organizing. Thank you for the great ideas for binders!!!
