How To Throw A Kickass Onesie Party

It’s my birthday today! I’ve officially turned 24. It always take a bit of time to adjust to a new number and I tend to get quite melancholic around my birthday, but this year I actually feel super grateful for having made it this far in life. I’m spending my actual birthday in the Efteling with Robbert today, which is one of the reasons I’m super excited for my birthday for the first time in years.
A while back I threw a onesie party for my scouting group, which was so much fun to do. We had a great time and I came across many super fun ideas while planning and executing the party. I thought: what better time to share party ideas with you than on my birthday? So today I have a bunch of tips for you on how to throw a kickass onesie party. I defnitely plan to do this one day when Robbert and I move into a full-size apartment!

Onesies

First and foremost, you need to wear your best onesie and make sure everybody shows up in theirs. It’s not a onesie party if people aren’t wearing their onesies! Cute pyjamas are allowed as well, if any of the guests don’t own a onesie. In which case make a note and get them one for their birthday ;)

Food

It’s not a party without snacks. I’d suggest going with the classics: cupcakes, crisps, popcorn, pizza… Of course you can go for anything you like, just make sure you have a few different options available at all times. You could also ask your guests to bring their favourite snacks!

Decor

Pull out all the pillows, cushions, and blankets you can find, and make a cozy chilling area around the sofa. If you want, go for a full-on pillow fort. The old fashioned slumber party vibe is what we’re going for!

Activities

I’m a big fan of just letting things flow and going with the vibe of the crowd, letting the conversations come and allowing a party to develop as it does. However, it’s always good to have a few activities planned to shake things up and give your party a new dimension. Of course some Netflix is a must during any slumber party, but you could also play a good old fashioned game of Truth or Dare, if everybody’s comfortable with that. I feel like this always brings people together on another level. Oh, and a little tip from experience… There’s nothing like playing Twister in onesies! Besides giving off major throwback vibes, it’s just a hilarious game to play.

Bagel Bar

Next morning, make sure your guests have access to an amazing breakfast to recover from a late night. A great idea is to create a buffet-style bagel bar: lay out a pile of bagels and serve a bunch of toppings in little bowls so that everybody can assemble their own bagel. Think hummus, cream cheese, cucumber and tomato slices, lettuce, nut butters… You could also do this with oatmeal or chia pudding and an array of toppings. Also be sure to have some fresh orange juice and/or smoothies ready!

In my opnion, you’re never too old to throw a theme party or have a sleepover with friends. I certainly don’t feel too old for it at 24, haha!
