And just like that, it’s Monday again! I caught a cold early this week and ended up spending most of the week in bed, missing out on my brother’s graduation ceremony, Robbert’s birthday, D&D, summercamp planning sessions, and a couple of dance rehearsals for the show on Sunday. Obviously I was pretty bummed about all of that but it looked like I was going to miss the actual dance performance as well, the one we’d all been working hard on since last Christmas. I decided to just give it a shot and I’m happy to report that I was not only able to dance all 9 times, but I’m still standing and actually feel a lot better than I did on Sunday morning. Alright, enough chatter, let’s take a look at last week!
Saturday
On Saturday morning I headed to the Utrecht fabric market to get some fabric for my grandma. I love this market but since I’m usually at the scouting on Saturday mornings, I rarely get to go. I’ll be able to go more often now!
SO MUCH FABRIC! This place is truly amazing, anything you’re looking for you’ll find here. I found what I needed as well and quickly headed back home.
A quick lunch of a grilled cheese sandwich, before Robbert and I headed to the botanical gardens for the deBeschaving festival.
A bunch of scientists were conducting an experiment there concerning cellphone use. We had to fill in a survey, then they put a sticker on our phones and told us to try to not use our phones for at least three hours, before filling in another survey and having the sticker removed.
I was up for the challenge but ended up cheating pretty quickly, and using my phone as a watch and photo camera. My screen is giant so the sticker only covered part of it and I could get to my camera icon. Luckily, because I did want to take photos and didn’t bring a separate camera. I was honest about this on my survey though, and the results show I wasn’t the only one that did this, haha!
Anyways, this is a photo of author Ronald Giphart, who did a reading from his new book. I had no idea it was so overexposed, you know, sticker and everything… Haha!
Another terrible sticker-photo, from the food truck area. They always have some really good food trucks at this festival!
There was an offline-area at the festival that you were only allowed to enter after showing your stickered off phone. We went in and regretted it pretty quickly, or at least I did, haha! This is a photo of Robbert and me fighting each other with blow-up flamingoes. Yeah.
We were there with a friend and it was loads of fun! Had a really great time and the best thing is it’s right around the corner, so we could go by bike and there was no hassle at all getting home.
Sunday
On Sunday morning we got up nice and early as I had to head to the dance school for a walk-through of the entire performance that we were going to do in exactly a week. Everything was good and it went really well, but as I got home I could feel something coming up…
Monday
And the next day, I was properly sick. I decided not to go to the rehearsal this day and stay in bed, and things only got worse from here. I had to miss my brother’s graduation ceremony at my old high school, and couldn’t go over to celebrate Robbert’s birthday. On wednesday I had a fever and had to reluctantly cancel one of the last D&D sessions with our current DM.
Thursday
Still in bed sick! For some reason, I’m never sick for a short period, it’s always a full week. By now I was getting really nervous about the performance on Sunday…
Friday
On Friday I was feeling a little better, but still extremely weak. I cancelled the last dance rehearsal in order to hopefully gain some strength before Sunday.
And I did! Kind of. I did the performance anyway and I’m really happy I went, but you’ll see all of that next week! For now I need to focus on filming some new content because at the moment I have nothing and I’m already leaving on summer camp this Friday… Onwards and upwards!
That sheep printed fabric!!! :D I would have gotten it for sure.
So glad you are feeling better again! I have a beauty beacon suggestion that I don’t think you’ve done. How about Boudicca? Another idea I have (mostly selfish) was a mini medieval look book. I love all of your hair history videos especially those from the dark ages. I go to the Renaissance festival (kind of a misnomer) every year and would love some hair inspiration so I can go all out this year.
Thanks Lucy!
Dom
I’m glad your feeling better. I’d love to see more content about the fabric market ;) Hope you’ll be up and completely healthy soon! Love from Germany
