The One That Flew By | Loepsie’s Life

Happy Monday my lovely readers. I hope you’re all doing well! I’ve had another quiet week, aside from a bunch of rattie trouble. The past week has just flown by and when I look back on it, I honestly can’t say where the time has gone. Luckily I do have some photos to remind me of everything I did, so let’s take a look :)

Ahh, oatmeal. This is still among my favourite breakfasts, I just wish it didn’t take as long to prepare and wasn’t as messy. I hate having to wash a crusty pot after cooking oatmeal. I’ve tried to prepare it in the microwave before but it didn’t work at all… I think I’ll try to perfect the technique though as it should take a lot less effort that way.

Dance rehearsals on Monday evening! We’re currently working on one of my favourite choreographies I’ve ever done. I might be able to show you guys some snippets of it when we preform it this summer :)

We’ve had a bit of a poopy problem with the rats over here lately. Not a great combination with Llewelyn’s bumble foot and Penpingion’s current wound situation. I mentioned we had a little health scare with Penpin last week: he’d suddenly grown a lump on his cheek, which can be very bad news in rats. I took him to the vet who ruled out a few options but couldn’t tell for sure what it was, so we decided to wait it out as long as he’s still eating. A few days later I noticed the lump was gone and there was an incision at the bottom of his cheek, he must’ve scratched it open. I’m disinfecting the wound twice daily and it’s healing beautifully. Penpin is back to his old self now, which is awesome and honestly quite unexpected. He’s a resilient little grandpa! Anyways, the cage needs to be kept spotless especially with the soft poopy problem so I’ve been changing the bedding every other day. Upside of all that: I’m getting quicker and quicker at it, haha!

I had another go at trying wet set pin curls. The result wasn’t what I’d hoped for, but not bad at all I think!

A lot of editing, writing and emails went on this week, as always…

A family friend sent over a few photos of our first ski vacation in the place we still go to every year. Whenever I see an old picture of myself all I can think is “look at all that hair”, haha! I can’t remember the last time we had this much snow in the village. I do believe it’s been getting warmer and warmer every year. I didn’t join the trip to Austria this year but I do think I’d like to come along again next year!

Robbert and I went for a little walk around the neighbourhood to take some photos and then stopped at a cafe for some food. I had a vegetable soup with some seriously delicious bread.

On Friday, I had this sudden urge to clean everything. I did about four loads of laundry, including all the blankets we use on the sofa.

That means this fuzzy one as well. I took my tangle teezer to it after it came out of the washer but I don’t think it did much, haha!

I sprayed some fabric freshener on the sofa and cleaned the rest of the house. Something about spring just gives me cleaning rage :)

I had an appointment with the vet (again) regarding the poopy problem. I feel like I live at the vet’s nowadays.

Llewelyn wasn’t happy about his trip at all, aww. Look at him, poor soul. It seems we’ve got a worm infestation going on, so we started treatment right away. We’re hoping that’s what’s been causing the problem and this treatment helps. Fingers crossed! The rats don’t really seem affected by it by the way, other than the poop which is more my problem than theirs, haha!

In other news: my parents visited with my grandparents last week and my grandma sent over some of her delicious signature cake. Yum yum yum! Robbert and I booked our tickets to go over to Slovakia sometime in May, I’m really excited :)

Saturday was a super chilled day, aside from a birthday party in my hometown I didn’t do anything at all besides watching YouTube videos and a few episodes of Black Sails.

Robbert went away for the weekend so I got another opportunity to have food he doesn’t like, haha! I went for brussels sprouts this time, baked them in the oven with some pumpkin, pecans, balsamic vinegar and honey. It was delicious.

On Sunday I decided to go on a nice long walk, despite the cold. For some reason it suddenly started freezing again in the Netherlands last week. After a few minutes I got used to the cold though and I had brought some hot tea with me, so I ended up having a really nice walk.

I came across this, which I think could be bear’s garlic in the making. I’m going to wait for a bit to see if it grows flowers and gets its typical smell, and when it does I’d really like to pick some and make pesto out of it. I’ve been wanting to do that for years and now that I have a food processor, I finally can!

After my walk I lied down on the sofa with a blanket, Oatly hot chocolate, and the new Michalak vlog.

My spring cleaning bug wasn’t satisfied yet, so I set out to thoroughly clean the fridge. It’s one of those things that are super necessary but I tend to forget about. Feels great to have it done though!

I also tried to declutter some of my jewellery. I believe I was semi succesful, haha :)

And here’s a wonderful photo of Diarmuid to end the week. This boy has the best personality, he’s such a joy to be around.

So that’s everything! Again, I have no idea where the time went or what I actually did to fill seven days. Let’s hope it all slows down this week :) See you soon guys!

  1. I’ve never made steel cut oats in the microwave, but do rolled oats in the microwave all the time! (Regular old fashioned rolled, not quick cooking rolled) I do 1/2 cup oats and 1 cup water for three minutes (our microwave isn’t strong so it may take less time in a more powerful one). The key is using a deep bowl, as it tends to boil up ;)
