Hello my lovely readers, happy Monday to you and welcome back to my blog! My holidays are well and truly over, so I’m ready to resume my regular blog and video schedule. I can’t wait to jump back in and produce lots of fun content for you!
Today I thought it’d be nice to catch up on the past few weeks. It’s been a while since I uploaded my last photo diary, so consider this a bit of a recap of what’s been going on.
At the beginning of my little blogging hiatus, there was a lot of this:
Dance rehearsal upon dance rehearsal in preparation for our four shows. I’m happy to report they went great! I don’t have access to any photos of the shows yet, but I’ll try to get my hands on some when our classes resume again after summer break and then I’ll be sure to show you some.
My family invited Robbert and me to come with on their holiday in Spain, which we gladly accepted.
We had a few lovely days, which we mostly spent relaxing by the beach. The sandy beach, by the way, haha! I received some comments after sharing photos of this pebble beach on Instagram, apparently most people don’t really like them and I can see why. They’re painful to walk on, man. We actually only came to this tiny patch of pebble beach to shoot some photos as it was the only spot on the beach that wasn’t crowded over right as the sun came up :)
I also spent a few days at scouting summer camps. Every year, for the young kids, we come up with a storyline they follow throughout the camp, and generally that involves a fantasy figure that needs help from the kids in some way. That figure is usually played by a leader of a different age group, and in this case that was me!
I was a marooned pirate during the youngest kids’ camp, and a shaman during the older kids’ camp. It was lots of fun!
Afterwards I left to visit my family over in Slovakia for two weeks.
I spent some time enjoying the beautiful Slovak nature in my grandparents’ cottages, and a few days in and around Bratislava.
While over there I finally had some time to make a bit of progress with my cross stitch, which I’m now convinced will take me at least ten years to finish. This thing is insane.
We went through the warmest summer in ages in the Netherlands, it got ridiculously hot over here! The warmest days were just way too much, but I greatly enjoyed the slightly cooler days and was very happy to spend them outside…
… having great homemade food on the balcony…
… at music festivals with friends…
… or eating loads of amazing summer fruit.
The poor ratties had a bit of a hard time in the heat, but we did what we could to cool them off and everybody made it through fine. A fun summertime activity: corn bobbing in cold water :) Oh, by the way, we finally cured Pádraig’s inner ear infection! His head is still slightly tilted at times, especially in the dark, but that’s part of him now and he’s a healthy and happy boy. Yay! I’ve gotten in touch with the rattery by the way, and we have two little boys waiting for us there. We just need to give them a bit of time to grow big and strong enough to meet these guys, as they’re now only four weeks old. Can’t wait to take them home!
So that’s pretty much where we’re at right now. Look out for regular updates on here, my YouTube channel and my Instagram again :) I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer so far, guys!
