Two thoughts, I know the woman was found with her hairstyle exactly as shown but as she was hung and then buried, could it not be possible that what she used to fasten her hair fell off?
Second thought, maybe the end of the braid was not left as she was found in her grave but neatly twisted around till the end and fastened with a peg of sort. It would then have been a more of a neat bun?
