My Favourite Healthy Refresher

Spring is in full swing and summer is approaching. It’s slowly but surely getting warmer and suddenly they’re popping up everywhere: soda’s, lemonades, iced teas… Who can resist such sweet, cold, sugary goodness on a hot day?

If only they weren’t so bad for you! Soda is one of the biggest dangers when it comes to weight control and healthy eating. It’s so easy to chug away a bottle of soda and never even think about all the sugar and nasty chemicals you’re pouring into your body. And there’s LOTS.

I’m here to save you! I have a delicious, healthy alternative for you that will satisfy both your craving for something cold and refreshing, and your sweet tooth. And it’s SUPER delicious as well! Does it get any better? Yep, it even looks cute.

Meet my favourite healthy refresher. With just a few all natural ingredients it’s super easy to make.

You will need:
Water (carbonated or still)
Lemon
Strawberries
Mint
Stevia

I like to use frozen strawberries to make it extra refreshing, but you can use room temperature berries and add some icecubes. I also like to peel my lemon. The peel is sprayed with pesticides, and when it’s going to be soaking in water for a while I don’t want to risk leaving the peel on, even when it’s washed. Organic lemons are safer!
For the sweetness, I add a good dash of stevia extract. The lemon and mint take the funny aftertaste away that stevia sometimes has, so you only taste the sweetness. Perfect!

Combine all ingredients and leave in the fridge for a few minutes before serving, so the water can soak up all the flavours nicely. Sliced lemon looks cute, but squeezed lemon has a lot more flavour. So, if you’re not planning to take pictures of it, I suggest you squeeze the lemon ;) After a while the water will turn a light pink from the strawberries!

I’ve also done this with thyme or rosemary instead of mint, and blueberries instead of strawberries. Those are really good as well, I encourage you to experiment with different ingredients!

  1. Cucumber is one of my faves.. so very refreshing and supposed to have detoxifying properties as well :)
