Collection Concealer | Worth The Hype?

Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer may be one of the most hyped up drugstore makeup products ever. It’s praised for having amazing coverage and lasting all day. Pesumably it’s a full on high-end quality product for a very wallet-friendly price. When I went to Dublin last April, I decided to buy the Collection concealer in the lightest colour, 01, to give it a try. When I went to London in July, I bought another one, in colour 02, slightly darker and a better match for my summer skin. I’ve been using this concealer for a while then. So, is it worth the hype?

Let’s put this concealer to the test. I’m using colour 2, cool medium, today.

This is my face in the morning, without any makeup on. As you can see, I have some dark circles underneath my eyes. What causes the darkness is mostly shadows, caused by the shape of my eyes, the way they are set, and a little bit of puffiness I experience in the morning. There’s also a little bit of darkness going on in the skin though, especially in the inner parts of my under-eye area.

You can see that a little bit better in a close up. Most of the dark colour is towards the center, on the outside the darkness is mostly caused by shadows.

So, let’s try to cover this situation up!

In this photo, I’ve applied the Collection concealer underneath my right eye (on your left). I left the other side bare so we could see how the two sides compare.

Right away I can see that although the shadows are still there and you could say I still have a dark circle underneath my right eye, it definitely looks brighter and more awake.

This photo is taken from above while I’m looking up, so as to eliminate the shadow and show how the concealer dealed with the pigmentation under my eye. The right side has concealer on, the left side doesn’t. Here you can see the brightening effect a lot better, and that it does indeed cover up the pigmentation. I don’t like to apply a lot of concealer under my eyes since I have some lines there that concealer tends to settle in (as you can see a couple of pictures back), so this is quite a thin layer. I say it looks pretty good!

Since my dark circles are mainly due to shadows, I decided to put the coverage of this concealer to the test in another way as well.

Behold, a birthmark on my arm. Let’s try to make this disappear.

Not bad, not bad at all! The birthmark is pretty much gone, though you can tell that this colour doesn’t match the skin on my arm, haha!

I’ve reached for this concealer nearly every single day since I bought it, and it doesn’t come off until I remove it at night. I love how it brightens up my under-eye area, and because it’s crazy pigmented, it’s perfect for covering blemishes as well.

For only little over 4 pounds, the Collection concealer is definitely worth the money. And for me, it’s worth the hype as well. I was very skeptical when I first tried this out and the consistency (which is pretty thick) took some getting used to, but it didn’t take long for this to become my go-to concealer. Definitely give this a shot if you ever get the chance!
