Madame de Pompadour | Beauty Beacons

In today’s episode of Beauty Beacons I’m going to tell you all about the French king Louis XV’s famous mistress Madame de Pompadour and her beauty rituals. How did she do her makeup and hair? We’re revisiting 18th century hairstyling for this one, in an earlier, more toned down version. Enjoy!

  1. Hi Loepsie!
Great video as always :) I’m just really curious on your research-method. I’m a history student myself so i’m always looking for new sources and material.

    Have a great day :)

    1. Hi Silje,
I’m afraid I’m going to have to disappoint you a little bit. I don’t conduct proper scientific research for these videos and I don’t test my sources extensively, in fact my primary source is plain old Wikipedia. I’ve put entertainment value before 100% correctness for this series for the sake of time management, there’s enough material out there for each episode to turn into a proper thesis that takes months of research :)

      1. Thank you so much for your reply :) I’m not disappointed at all! I know how time consuming historical research can be.
I do find your videos very entertaining and I can’t spot any errors in your empirical research either :)
Just on the lookout for a topic for my BA thesis ;)
