New Glasses!

My last pair of glasses I’ve had for well over two years, and since I’m one lucky bird I managed to get a major scratch on one of the glasses within two weeks of getting them, so there’s been a white line in my vision for the past two years whenever I wore my glasses. A new pair was well overdue and now I finally went out and got myself one!

When I set out in search of a new pair of glasses, I had this pretty specific frame in mind that I was looking for; I really wanted a large, light brown/beige cat-eye frame. They didn’t have that at the optician that I went to and I found out pretty soon that cat-eye glasses aren’t the best fit for my face shape, so I gave up on that and started looking for any glasses that would suit me. After having tried pretty much every neutral-coloured frame in the ladies’ section, I ended up with glasses that looked exactly like my old ones. I was a little bummed out  by that since I was ready for a change, but then again, at least I know for sure these look good on me.

Then, as I was waiting for the optician that was servicing me, I glanced towards the men’s section, and saw a pair of glasses that really spoke to me. I tried it on and found out that apparently my head is just too large for women’s frames, because pretty much any men’s frame looked better on me than the women’s ones, haha! And that’s how I ended up with my current pair of men’s glasses.

I am absolutely in love with this frame, from the brand Be Bright. The shape is similar to my old glasses, but the frame is thinner and larger, making it a little bit more on-trend. The colour is a little bit lighter than what I had on my old glasses, which is what I was looking for, and I think the cool brown tone suits me well. They don’t look masculine at all in my opinion, would you have known if I hadn’t told you? :) I’m very happy with them and look forward to wearing my glasses more often again now that I have a scratch-free pair!

  1. Interesting, as i have a narrow mid face, and find that glasses from the womens section fit me (a man 35) better, the optom is quite amused as I peruse the womens racks, and I get a mild frisson of excitement, as they are such lovely styles and colours, I currently wear Harry Lary invady made in france.. so beautiful

  2. I love your glasses! It looks beautiful on you. I am looking for glasses kind of like it so may I ask: In mm, how long is its vertical size? Thank you :)

  3. Your new glasses look really nice and I think the style suits you very well. Your not the first young lady to buy glasses from the men’s section and you wont be the last. Many women just find the men’s frames more comfortable for some reason. But to be honest if didn’t tell anyone no one would know anyway.
I’m surprised that you managed for 2 years with a scratch right in your viewing area. That had to drive you crazy every time you put your glasses on? One tip to remember is that whenever you take them off never sit them on the lenses. Always have the lenses facing up. Also something many people don’t know is to never use any product made from paper to clean your glasses. Paper is made from wood and will actually leave very tiny hairline scratches on your lenses. That includes tissues and even toilet paper. (retired optician)
