Climbing Trees | Loepsie’s Life

Greetings on this beautiful sunny Monday! After a few gloomy, rainy days, the sun has returned to the Netherlands in full force. Let’s take a look at what I was up to last week!

Starting the week with a picture of chubby old Llewelyn in the middle of his favourite activity :)

After all of your tips on my Pin Curl Diaries video, I hopped over to the drugstore and got myself some more wet setting goodies. I bought all the foam rollers they had, a hair net and a spray bottle for water. I’ll have to go back to buy more rollers soon, because there’s no way these are enough, but I’m going to give them some time to re-stock first. I don’t imagine they sell many of these on a daily basis, haha!

As I was cycling home from the grocery store, one of the grocery bags that latch on to my bike broke. It fell off my bike, and when I got home I noticed that the jar of pasta sauce I had bought exploded inside the bag. Look at this mess! I had to clean all the groceries, but luckily the damage wasn’t too bad :)

On Tuesday, I vlogged!

I went over to Utrecht to pick up a package that got delivered there.

When I came home my new glasses had arrived. I’m still head over heels in love with these and feel very lucky that the whole buying process went so smoothly.

While I was in Utrecht I got myself a new pair of shoes. They’re the Nike MD runner 2’s and I actually really like them. They’re my first real sneakers as I’ve always had a bit of an aversion against this type of shoe, but these look acceptable in my opinion and are undeniably comfortable to wear.

My go-to salad for lunch.

I filmed a new hair tutorial, featuring four ways to incorporate scarves into a hairstyle.

On the first sunny day, I jumped at the opportunity and headed over to the park for a nice walk.

I love taking walks this time of year, with all the wild flowers everywhere.

I asked Robbert to take a picture of me while I was working, and he kept telling me to look more enthousiastic, haha!

My brother came over to visit on Thursday and we took another nice long walk in the park.

Chilli for dinner!

Little Diarmuid’s derp face :D

I finally hung the lights on the balcony! They’re hanging by little plastic hooks so we’ll have to see whether they’ll hold, but I do love the way this looks.

On Friday night Robbert and I left for the weekend, to go on a little camp with all the scouting leaders. We do this once a year to hone our skills and just have a good time.

I climbed a tree on a rope for the first time. I was surprised by how much fun this was! Normally I wouldn’t have dared to do something like this, but I’ve been pushing my limits and I have to say, it feels good.

The weather was amazing so we were outside all weekend, doing all kinds of things.

With nightly camp fires, of course.

There was a giant trampoline there and we had a blast on there. Most of us hadn’t jumped on one of these in years so we really let our inner children come out, haha!

And that’s the end of my week! I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend :)

  1. Your new glasses look great! I like the style a lot. I am 39 & have worn contacts daily since I was 16! But last year, I started having trouble with contacts too. I wore my glasses for 2 months to rest my eyes. Apparently, as I’m getting older, extra dryness is making re-usables impossible to wear. I switched to dailies, which have been a good option. But, it is fun to mix in my cat-eye glasses sometimes.

Yay for sponge curlers! I have naturally curly hair, but I have done wet-sets with sponge curlers with great success. One thing you can try is mixing sponge curlers and pin curls. Especially until you get enough curlers. You could do curlers in the back, and pin curls in the front where you can have more control over the curls. My biggest problem with sponge curlers is that the little plastic bar to clip them closed never stays in place tight enough, especially when I sleep on them. So, I use pin curl clips or bobby pins to keep them in place. But, that runs the risk of creasing (which you can usually hide). Definitely play with them, especially in the front of your head, and see what techniques work best for you. When your hair is long, you will have to take smaller sections & the rolling will take longer & you will need lots more curlers. Can’t wait to see how it turns out for you!
