Ups And Downs | Loepsie’s Life

Hello my lovely readers! I’m back with a photo diary and update on what my life was like the past days. As quickly as some weeks fly by, last week seemed to last a month. It was a week full of ups and downs, very happy moments and very sad ones. Let’s take a look.

Monday morning, the day after we got back home from Slovakia. My grannies succesfully stuffed me so full I couldn’t really imagine having breakfast, so I opted for a bowl of grapes instead. Shared a bit with the ratties, of course.

The weather was lovely still and as always, whenever I get the chance I like to sit on the balcony outside and work from there.

WILD PEACHES ARE BACK! My favourite fruit <3 They’re not at their best yet, but I couldn’t resist buying a few.

Monday was my 10 year YouTube anniversary. I wanted to post something to Instagram to celebrate, so when my brother came over in the evening for a round of skating in the park, I asked him to snap a quick shot of me in my YouTube t-shirt. The one that, later that week, got turned into reusable cotton rounds, haha!

On Tuesday afternoon Robbert and I headed over to Gouda for an in person session of Dungeons & Dragons, as our friend and DM had come over from Ireland.

A quick example of what angles can do for you in a photograph… Haha! It was stormy all day on Tuesday, but it got worse in the evening. As we headed home later that night, we found out lighning hit the train track right between Gouda and Amsterdam. It was very hard to get home as it was so late already (23.00 when we left), but we got really lucky and managed to hop on some last trains of the day to get to Schiphol Airport via Den Haag. Then we took a few night busses which got us close enough so that we could walk home. By the time we got home it was 01.30 and I was stressed out of my mind. Hopped into bed straight away!

Since Monday, someone in our building had been renovating their house so there had been a constant, loud drilling noise in our home. By Wednesday I really needed to film if I wanted to get a video up on Thursday, so I decided to go to the park and film my video there. When I left the building I realised my bike was still at the train station, where we’d left it the night before as we couldn’t get there. I went over to pick it up, and then headed straight to the park to film the video.

That actually ended up working really well! I could potentially do that more often, if the weather allows it.

Beetroot risotto for dinner in the evening.

Thurdsay was a sad day. Around noon, I noticed Llewelyn was acting strange. I’ll spare you the details but I called the vet straight away, made an appointment as soon as possible and we ended up putting him to sleep that day. His time had come, poor thing. He was almost 2,5 years old, and a happy boy until the very end. That morning he was still playing on the sofa and enjoying his banana. Robbert and I stayed with him all the time until his appointment and gave him lots of scratches and kisses. I’m glad it was a quick and peaceful process for him, but it’s never an easy decision to make and I do miss him dearly. Llewelyn was my cuddle bug and it’s very strange, not having him around anymore. We buried him next to his brother the same day. Rest in peace, little warrior!

That evening I got some much needed distraction in the form of an extra dance rehearsal. We have a few shows coming up so an extra rehearsal here and there is in order.

Lunch on the balcony on Friday.

My lavender is in bloom! It’s so rewarding when your plants start to grow flowers :)

Little Diarmuid hanging out in his hammock. I can’t get over how comfortable and cozy he always looks, he makes me want to get in there with him and take a nap.

One of the lenses nearly fell out of my new glasses, and I noticed I’d lost one of the little screws (you can see it on the top left). I called customer service and they were kind enough to send me a set of new screws the very next day. Luckily I had one of those tiny screwdrivers as one came with my watch a while back, so I was able to fix the glasses within a couple of minutes. Yay!

On Friday I filmed an episode of the pin curl diaries, with some wild peaches and hummus on crackers for a snack.

I glanced over to the cage and saw that not Pádraig, but Diarmuid had gotten under the fleece bedding this time! I think they may be getting bored with their cage setup. Now that the cage no longer needs to be elderly rat proof, I want to change it all up for them so that they have something new and exciting to explore. I would like to get some new baby rittens to accompany them at some point as well, but as we have a few trips planned over the summer I think it’s best to wait until autumn when we’ll be able to give new babies the attention they need. I’ve got my mind set on September at the moment!

In the evening I headed over to scouting for a first aid course. You have to do these every other year to keep your first aid license current, and that time had come.

Friday was also Robbert’s and my seven year anniversary. There wasn’t much room for celebration this year unfortunately, but it’s still nice to note. We might make up for the lost time when things get a bit more quiet.

I got home after midnight, and still needed to put my hair in rollers for the pin curl video. Next morning I was super tired so I allowed myself to sleep in, before brushing my hair for three hours as you could see in the video. If only I’d known it would take that long, I wouldn’t have done it, haha!

The curls didn’t last very long, either. That evening my dancing teacher was celebrating her 25th anniversary with the dance school, and as me and most of the girls in the group I’m in have been here for around 20 of those years, we were invited to join the festivities. It was drizzling as I cycled there and my hair got a bit damp even though I was wearing a hood. Then at a certain point the live band came out and as everyone started dancing, the room got hot and humid and that was the end of my four hour brush out, hahaha!

The next morning Robbert and I finished our last preparations for the scouting acitivity we had planned. We only had a few days to prepare a zombie apocalypse survival activity, and a lot happened in those days so I’m quite proud of how we ended up pulling it off. It was a lot of fun! We ended up staying longer and having dinner around the camp fire with a few people.

And that was the end of the week that seemed to last forever. It was a very busy one, with lots of planned and unplanned events. I wish I could say this week is a bit calmer, but I have a lot planned for this week as well. Only fun things this time hopefully, so I’ll update you on those in next week’s diary. Talk to you soon!

  1. I’m so sorry about little Llewelyn, but clearly he lived a very full and happy life with you and Robbert.
Congratulations on 7 years together, my husband and I just celebrated 17 years of marriage, he makes me as happy today as the first day I met him (and that’s very happy indeed).
I loved your latest Pin Curl Diary, my hair would have been a static disaster if I’d tried that :D
    Love
