Picking Up Sports | Loepsie’s Life

Happy Monday my lovely readers! I hope you’ve had an amazing weekend. Apologies for the lack of diary last week, I sat down to write it on Monday and realised I had barely taken any photos that week so I didn’t have much to write about. Truth is I have been struggling with taking photos for my diaries lately, as my life has been pretty uneventful and I often just don’t really know what to take photos of. But, this week I have an extra long diary for you with photos from both this week and last. Let’s take a look at what I’ve been up to!

I cycled over to my hometown to run some errands, and decided to take the long, scenic route back to Amsterdam. And when I say long, I mean really long. I’ll admit I took a few wrong turns, but luckily I know the neighbourhood pretty well so I was able to get back on a road I knew quickly. It did make for a super long detour but it was absolutely lovely and a nice workout so it’s all good :)

Having dinner on the balcony with Robbert makes me so happy! It’s something I’ve been dreaming of for a long time and I’m so glad I finally get to experience it. I made loaded nachos which were amazing, you can never go wrong with those.

Whenever I possibly can, I like to sit on the balcony. I wonder how long it’ll take before I grow tired of it, haha! I wrote some blogposts out here and had a delicious matcha latte.

Around lunch time I met up with my friend and we headed to the forest for a picnic. It was supposed to be the last warm day for a while so we wanted to enjoy it fully! We ended up staying there until dinner.

I filmed a Beauty Beacons episode on Gia Carangi, meaning I had to do 80’s hair. Although I’m still not a big fan of the 80’s look I do have to say this hair is quite nice.

Little Pádraig is a chewer. He’s my first destructive rat so I don’t really know how to deal with him, aside from keeping a close watch on him and distracting him with other chewable objects. The ledge behind the sofa is slowly getting emptier and emptier as I keep moving things out of his reach, haha!

We finally got Robbert a new bike! We’d been sharing my bike for a few weeks now and it was really inconvenient, so I’m glad we finally both have one again. We went to Decathlon to get him a bike and while he was handling that, I drooled over all the new trekking/hiking gear they have this year. Guys, the itch to go trekking again is real. It seems like we won’t be going this summer but I’m going to try and arrange something as soon as possible because I have fallen in love and want to go again.

In the evening I hopped over to my friend’s to watch the Eurovision finals and enjoy a cheeky G&T. I don’t care about Eurovision too much, but watching the final is a fun little tradition that I enjoy every year.

Reading on my bench outside <3

Ok, this is probably really weird but I LOVE cellery and sometimes I’ll just eat a stalk as a snack. Please tell me I’m not the only one.

Monday, time for dance class! The weather was finally nice enough that I could cycle over in my dancing clothes, saving the two minutes it takes to change :)

One of the things I love the most about spring is getting to wear all my pretty dresses. I love dresses and wish I could wear them year round. Maybe I should put a little bit more effort into actually doing that.

I picked up a new ivy. The last one ended up dying, but I’m still not sure whether I drowned it or let it dry out. I’m keeping an eye on this one to make sure it’s doing well and so far it seems happy.

On Tuesday I went for my first run in years. I was having mad PMS rage and thought this would be a nice way to blow off some steam. It worked like magic, guys. I actually really enjoyed it too, which was completely unexpected. Yay! Not to mention I got a lot further than I was expecting on my first run. I was very pleased with myself after, haha :)

I may have overdone it a little bit though, as the next day I had a monster of a muscle ache in my legs. I had the intention to do something active every day this week, but decided to opt for a nice walk instead on Wednesday to give my legs a bit of a break. I keep discovering new nice places around the neighbourhood and it’s really helping me appreciate where I live more.

On Thursday I asked my brother to bring over my old skated and his skateboard, and we went for a ride around the neighbourhood. I was surprised how well the skating went after all these years, and especially how much I enjoyed it. Definitely something I’m going to be doing more often!

When we got back, the pizzas had arrived. After New York Pizza, Domino’s Netherlands launched a few vegan pizzas as well and of course I wanted to try them out. We got the spicy pizza and the BBQ one, and I have to say I like these much better than the ones at NY. The cheese is much less overpowering and they have more veggies on them. Can definitely recommend!

Groceries have to be done :)

I’m still trying to keep up the habit of having salads for lunch, but am struggling a bit. I think right now I do it about once or twice a week. I should really turn that number up and start meal prepping again, I’m pretty sure that’s what’ll do the trick.

I did keep up my active streak, however! Skating again on Friday.

On Friday I spent a lot of time researching ways to up my Instagram game. I feel like I’m not using that medium to its full potential and there’s a lot more I could do with it, so I want to try out a couple of things to see how I like them. First up is a theme. I’ve kind of tried to do themes before but never very consistently, however this time I have one that I really like so let’s hope it works. I downloaded a load of apps that help make Insta posts better, maybe you’ve noticed a few changes already? I’m really enjoying experimenting with it, anyway!

While I was working that day I put on one of the “focus” playlists on Spotify, and out of nowhere it started playing a LotR soundtrack. It made me feel super nostalgic and I really wanted to watch the movie that night. I put it on but sadly didn’t get to enjoy it too much, as we had a little health scare with Llewelyn. The poor guy is getting super old and has all kinds of problems now, I don’t think he’ll be around much longer. What was wrong this night luckily blew over though, and he still seems to be enjoying life so I’m just pampering and loving him as much as possible while he’s still with us :)

I ended up staying up quite late with Llewelyn and was super tired next morning. Robbert was sweet enough to cover for me at scouting where I had promised to help, so I got some more sleep and then rolled over to the sofa with my blanket to watch the royal wedding.

We had the laziest day in ages, binge watching Orphan Black after the royal wedding ended. I didn’t want to break my active streak though, so I put on my running shoes and went for a little run. It was a disappointing run and didn’t go nearly as well as the one on Tuesday, I but I was still glad I went.

Robbert made sandwiches for dinner and we watched more Orphan Black.

On Sunday morning I had breakfast with the ratties, like I do every day. They love to lick my bowl when I finish my oatmeal, so I happily let them and sometimes leave a bit of oatmeal at the bottom. They’re so adorable, going crazy over those leftovers :)

When Robbert got up we had brunch on the balcony in the sunshine. Such a lovely start to the day!

Afterwards I headed into central Amsterdam to get myself some new gym clothes. For the longest time I only had one pair of gym leggings and one sports bra, as I only ever used them for dance class once a week. Now that I’ve worked out every day this week, the one set just isn’t enough. I don’t think working out every day is a realistic goal for every week but I’d still like to make my lifestyle more active, so I needed a few more pieces.

I walked by this aisle in Primark and could hardly contain myself. This is a hat lover’s heaven! I was very determined not to buy another hat, but I failed. I ended up getting this one in the front here with the white lace.

Let’s do a little haul! I got a pair of brown flat/loafer hybrids at Primark, to replace the cream coloured flats I had last year that my big toes made holes in (lol).

At H&M I got a padded sports bra. I prefer the padded kind as I feel like they provide the most support.

A long sleeve sports top from Primark.

Also from Primark, I got this pair of leggings with mesh at the bottom. I think they’re really cool!

And, of course, the aforementioned hat. I’m head over heels in love with this. Prepare to see a lot of it, haha!

After a round of house cleaning I sat down on the balcony with a cup of tea, and that concludes the past two weeks. I hope you’ve had a wonderful time! We’re expecting a few lovely sunny days again over here, so hopefully I’ll be able to spend a lot of time outside again. This weekend Robbert and I are flying over to Slovakia to visit my family, which I’m really excited about. More on that next week, guys. Talk to you soon!

  1. Hey lucy!

What do you use in your loaded nachos? They look really good but I can’t make out the salsa bit! Is there a recipe floating about?

Love the vids and blos posts, keep it up!
    :)

    1. Thanks! I really just throw tomatoes, onion and cilantro into the food processor with a little squeeze of lime juice, that’s it :)

      1. Late update but I made the dish and it was AMAZING! (I actually never thought of having cold nachos, I’ve always grilled them in the oven with salsa and cheese!)

        Thanks for the recipe! :)

  2. Decathlon is such a cool place! I don’t really like shopping, but whenever I enter Decathlon, I can’t leave without buying something :D
By the way, running is awesome, keep it up! Such a good way to blow off some steam. Just try to set realistic goals for yourself, so you don’t get disappointed and don’t give up.
