Winter Is Coming | Loepsie’s Life

Happy Monday once again! I can’t believe how quickly time flies and that we’re already halfway through November. Autumn just started and now Christmas is right around the corner. I haven’t even gotten around to shooting super autumnal outfit photos yet, haha! I guess we’ll have to take care of that this week :) In today’s photo diary I have a bunch of photos for you straight off my phone again. Let’s take a look at what I was up to last week!

On Monday morning I was happily surprised to find a brand new, giant vegetarian deli meat section in my super market. Look at all those options! Many of them are vegan too, which is amazing. We’ve slowly been trying all of them out and nearly everything we’ve tried so far has been amazing. I love how quickly new vegetarian and vegan products are coming out, you can really tell it’s getting more and more main stream. You definitely don’t need mock meats like this on a vegan diet, but it does make the transition much easier and the experience more fun, in my opinion.

The first thing I wanted to try out is this vegan liver sausage. I used to love liver sausage as a kid, until I found out what it’s made of, haha! Obviously it’s been a long time since I last had it. I’m beyond excited to have access to the experience of eating liver sausage now, without any animal involvement. This was really good by the way, can certainly recommend if you’re in the Netherlands.

We’ve been living in this apartment for nearly a year now, and embarrassing as it is, I just now got around to hemming the bedroom curtains. Ah, better late than never, right? It took a bit longer than I’d hoped to get this 60’s sewing machine up and running, but I got there in the end.

The curtains are much prettier and more manageable now. They finally hang straight as they’re not bunched up on the floor any more, and it’s easier to open and close them. I really should’ve done this sooner, haha!

Once again, I got influenced by an influencer. After watching a video on how to make the most of your old clothes, I decided it was finally time to buy myself a fabric shaver. Oh my, guys, I’m so glad I purchased this! It shaved those ugly pills right off my sweaters and they all look as good as new again. I was ready to throw one of my favourite sweaters out because the pilling got so bad it made the sweater unwearable, but I shaved it off using this handy little thing and now my old fav looks perfect again. Ready for a few more years of duty! In case you’re wondering, this is the Philips fabric shaver and I highly recommend it. You’ll get so much more wear out of your sweaters when you use one of these to keep them looking nice.

In the afternoon I met up with my friend. We drove to Scheveningen where we had dinner together before heading to the theater.

We went to see Giselle, the ballet. Wow wow wow! The costumes and decor were particularly amazing in this one, I loved it. Getting that membership to the Dutch National Opera and Ballet has to be one of the best decisions I’ve made in 2018. I’m getting so much joy out of it!

My friend brought a few of these grass hammocks for the rats, which they immediately set to destroying. Gave them a bit of exercise, haha :)

Every now and then Robbert and I take all the cushions off the sofa and vacuum everything down. We then fluff the cushions up and put them back in a different way than they were before. It makes such a huge difference to how the sofa holds up. Keeps it looking nice and new!

This little coffee table ended up as a big plant stant quite accidentally, as my mom simply used it to put down all the plants right after we bought them and didn’t have anywhere to put them yet. I love it so much that I decided to leave it like this, though! Really helps amp up those botanic vibes that I love so much in an interior.

Hey, look at that, I’ve got a trendy plant :)

At scouting this week, one of the explorers gave us a little programming course in Java. I’ve only ever done HTML and a little bit of CSS so this was new to me, but I really enjoyed it! If I had more time on my hands and if I didn’t have a thousand other hobbies, I might have pursued this further, haha :)

My little buddy <3

My brother came over on Saturday. We did a bit of catching up, played Just Dance and made sushi in the evening.

I decided to cook some vegan fish fingers to put in the sushi, which ended up working surprisingly well. My roll turned out delicious.

Ahh, a neat drawer, what a sight to behold. I hopped over to my parents’ house to pick something up over the weekend and found a few tops there that I hadn’t moved yet, so I brought them back with me. Since there was so much space left in my tops drawer they fit in there perfectly and I can put them straight back into rotation.

I’ve officially put the balcony into winter mode by stashing away the furniture as much as possible. Now it looks really empty, so I do think I’d like to put a nice larger winter/Christmas decoration up there when the time comes. I’m really excited to look for something nice in the Christmas market at our local garden center in a few weeks.

Ok, I hate when others do this but I’m going to go there after all… I’m working on a secret project! Hopefully I’ll be able to reveal it really soon so I won’t keep you waiting for too long, but I’m really excited and it’s currently taking up a big chunk of my time. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t so stubborn and didn’t want to do absolutely everything myself, haha! I’m slowly getting there though and I can’t wait for you guys to see it (and me too, of course) :)

And that concludes my week! This week is going to be a nice and quiet one, so hopefully I’ll have a lot of time to make big advancements on that project I’m working on. Have a fantastic week loves, talk to you soon!

  1. ugh, i love fabric shavers. mine stopped working the other day and i urgently need to buy a new one. i have some pyjama pants that desperately need them.

  2. Lovely post! In the UK we call pilling ‘bobbles’ and a while back there was a fabric shaver called ‘bobble-off’ haha!
I recently watched your video of you changing your wardrobe to winter things and it’s inspired me to try and clear things out. It always seems overwhelming but we plan to look for our first place to buy in the new year so it must be done!

  3. It makes me so happy that you are enjoying the arts and the theatre! It really is one of the most magical and worthwhile things to do with your time. And I’m super excited about your Secret Project :-) Best of luck!
