2 Minute Supercharged Spa Facials At Home with Foreo UFO & UFO 2 – Review

As I’m slowly but surely approaching my 30s, I feel the need to take care of my skin a little better than I have been doing so far. Over the past year or so, I’ve gone from being the moisturizer-only girl to having a full 5-step daily skin care routine that I actually stick to. And I love it. Paying more attention to my skin has not only been a lovely few minutes of me-time each day, but has indeed improved the look and feel of my skin. Here’s to getting ID’ed well into my 30s!
Today I’d like to tell you about the latest addition to my skin care arsenal: the UFO and newest UFO 2 by Foreo. This adorable little round device provides me with a supercharged 2-minute facial whenever I need one. A plethora of skin benefits and ultimate relaxation, mashed with the newest technology… Let’s dive into the review!

What It Is

The Foreo UFO is a smart mask device that allows you to reap the full benefits of a facial sheet mask in 90 seconds, rather than the usual 20 minutes. Both UFO and UFO 2 use changes in temperature, LED light and pulsations to enhance the absorption of your face mask ingredients, making sure they penetrate deep into the skin for immediate deep hydration.

UFO and UFO 2 come with an acrylic stand, a USB charger, quick start guide, and a Make My Day face mask. UFO 2 also comes with a Foreo Serum sample.
Most importantly though, they come with an app. It’s called a smart mask for a reason, after all! The Foreo app is downloadable on Android and iOs, and truly takes the masking experience to the next level. It walks you through all the steps of a full at-home facial, and allows you to customize the experience to your preferences. The device connects to your phone through bluetooth.

How It Works

The UFO/UFO 2 is very simple to use. You take the clear ring off, place a face mask of your choice on the device, and secure it with the ring. Then you can start a treatment one of two ways:

1. Press the button on the device to select one of the saved treatments. The Make My Day and Call It A Night mask treatments come pre-loaded to the device, but you can add more mask types or, on UFO 2, even a completely custom treatment that automatically syncs from the app. The ring on the device will light up as you press the button, indicating which treatment is selected.
2. Open your Foreo app and select a treatment from there.

All Foreo face masks have their own optimized treatment that maximizes their properties, each treatment taking either 90 seconds or 2 minutes. Once you’ve selected a treatment, the device will start going through the routine. If you’re using the app, relaxing music starts to play and a calming voice guides you through the treatment. There’s also an animation in the app that shows you what to do. At the end of the treatment you can choose to run it again, or turn off the device by pressing and holding the button. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever run a treatment only once. It just feels too good to let it end so soon, haha!

After the treatment is finished, you remove the mask and rinse the UFO under running water. It’s water proof, so no need to worry about getting it wet.
The device has a surprisingly long battery life, a full charge should last a couple weeks depending on how often you use it.

Masks for everybody!

Foreo offers a wide range of UFO Power Activated Masks, designed specifically to go with the UFO devices. The masks are formulated in Korea, and there is one for every skin type. The masks are made from soft micro fiber and are drenched in the serum- there’s enough in each packet to last you several uses. I tend to use whatever’s left to run the treatment on my husband’s face as well, haha!

The UFO 2 has received a couple updates compared to the UFO, that make it compatible with your own products too, so you don’t have to get the Foreo masks. UFO 2 can be run over a traditional sheet mask, or over an extra thick layer of your usual skin care. Heat or cold can affect some active ingredients, but as temperatures are fully customizable on this device, you can be sure you get the most out of all your products.

What It Does

The UFO and UFO 2 use several cutting-edge technologies to enhance your skin and instantly leave it nourished and glowing.

• Thermotherapy preps your skin for ingredient absorption by gently warming it up and softening it.
• Cryotherapy instantly refreshes, lifts and firms the skin by reducing the appearance of pores and puffiness.
• T-sonic pulsations gently massage the skin to encourage blood circulation and better absorption of mask ingredients.
• Full spectrum LED light therapy can provide various skin benefits, depending on the colour light you choose. For example, red light is used for anti-aging, while blue is used for acne treatment.

Let’s take a look at how the two compare:

Both devices come with the essential features to get your supercharged 2-minute facial. UFO 2 allows you to set an upper and lower temperature limit on the device, and changes temperature 5x faster than the UFO. UFO 2 also comes with a “find my device” function that makes it vibrate from the app, so you can find it easily should you misplace it.

What I Think

Using the device truly does provide that at-home spa experience. The gentle heat and cold of the device, the music from the app, and the massaging pulsations make it a lovely, relaxing and stress-relieving skin treatment. I love using my UFO 2 at the end of the day, to prep myself for sleep with warmth and pulsations. In the morning I like to use the cryotherapy mode to de-puff my under eye area and help me wake up in a wonderfully relaxed way.

The masks have been amazing. Each one I’ve used has left my skin feeling moisturized, nourished and soft, and looking fresh and glowy. I like to use the device about twice or thrice weekly, and each time is an enjoyable experience. I have the treatments for the four masks I currently have (Make My Day, Call It A Night, Green Tea and H2Overdose) pre-loaded on the device so I can use them without taking my phone to the bathroom. My favourite is, of course, the green tea one. It smells lovely and leaves my skin feeling very plump and fresh.
