Happy Monday! I’m currently looking out onto a sunlit garden, after having spent a couple of hours outside in the sun yesterday. Could it be that spring has finally come back? We had some bad luck last week when it came to the weather, especially on Kingsday, but it was a nice week anyway. Let’s take a look at what I’ve been up to!
Saturday
Good morning! Time for some ratty cuddles before I head to scouting.
We decided to teach the kids a thing or two about hiking and head to a nearby playground. They practised staying together, being kind to nature, staying on the pavement and being considerate towards their slower friends. It went really well and nobody complained about being tired, I’m super proud of them!
(Look at all the kids in their hats. This might as well have been a photo from January, ugh :()
After scouting I headed over to Robbert’s where I stayed until Sunday.
Sunday
On Sunday I left really early to go to my parents’ house and get changed for Elfia. I wrote a blog post about the day and I also vlogged, you can see both HERE. The event was lovely but the weather was quite bad, sadly.
I bought this dress at Elfia! I’m absolutely in love with it and can’t wait to be able to wear it out.
Monday
On Monday I left early to go home to Utrecht. It was raining throughout my journey so when I got home I treated myself to a nice warm matcha latte.
My Rimmel pressed powder shattered when I dropped it, nooo! There was so much pan showing that all there was left was a little edge, which broke easily. Time for a new powder, I suppose!
The weather still wasn’t nice when I went to the grocery store, but at least it wasn’t raining.
This is what I got! Bread, grapes, surimi, tomato, organic milk, fusilli, mayonnaise, passata, soy sauce, pesto, wasabi, onions, cucumber, avocado and nori.
For dinner I made this dish of anything I could find in my kitchen. It doesn’t look too appetizing but it was quite tasty, haha!
Tuesday
I did another mayonnaise mask this morning, I’m still blown away by the results every time. Such soft and shiny haaaair!
Well hello rain and grey skies…
I spent most of this day working at home. I didn’t feel like going out since the weather was so bad. This was my lunch of the day!
Filming! I filmed two videos for Loepsie’s Theetuin. The Dutch channel is doing really well by the way, my views and subscriber count are steadily going up and I enjoy making videos for it very much.
Robbert came by in the late afternoon and I made his favourite dish; pasta pesto.
Aaaand we watched the first episode of Game of Thrones season 6! It was great and since this was only the recap/introductory type episode, I’m super excited for everything yet to come.
I still burn candles even when it’s light out for longer now. It was pretty dark all day anyway because of the rain. Candles make everything better!
Wednesday
Wednesday was Kingsday! It’s a national holiday in the Netherlands where we celebrate the birthday of the king. It’s traditionally celebrated with a giant, country-wide yard sale and music festivals here and there. Everybody dresses in the national colour orange, and the royal family visit a city every year where they are welcomed with acts and demonstrations from the locals. It was cold and rainy this day sadly, so we stayed in and watched the royal family visit the beautiful city Zwolle on TV.
Meanwhile I decided to clean and re-organise my built in cabinets. I re-arranged the decorations in my cubbies to make them look a little bit less busy. Since I made my gallery wall, the whole room looks a little crowded, so I’m trying to balance it by taking away some decorations in other places. I also re-organised the cabinet to the right of my cubbies where I keep my TV and loads of random things. It already looks a lot better but I’m going to need to get some boxes and baskets soon to be completely happy with it, there’s too much stuff exposed now in my opinion.
In the afternoon Robbert and I made some delicious sushi. It turned out amazing, I think we’ve really got the hang of it now!
I adores sushi, and making it yourself is a lot more cost-effective than eating out or ordering some. I just wish it didn’t take such a long time to make! Although it is quite a fun activity to do, so I guess it’s all right, haha!
Thursday
On Thursday my friend Lisa came back to Utrecht for a day, so we met up with a couple of friends for some drinks. Lisa is currently travelling and WWOOFing all over Europe and the UK and she’s been gone for months, it was really nice to see her again. And my other friends too, of course! We sat there talking for hours and hours, haha. I had a couple of soy chai lattes which filled me up so much I almost forgot to have lunch.
After everybody left I had to run to the grocery store to get everything I needed for tonight’s dinner. I was hosting Dungeons & Dragons and cooking as well, and I made this lasagna. I started cooking right away and was done just in time. The food turned out really well and everybody loved it, yay! It makes me so happy when people enjoy my food!
D&D!
Friday
On Friday morning I decided to sort my books by colour. Not entirely, I hate the idea of mixing topics or taking series apart just to sort everything by colour, but within a category or one cubby, there’s no reason why I shouldn’t organise my books by colour. I do think it looks quite nice and a little bit easier on the eyes as well. Not so crowded.
Wearing my favourite sweater again!
Work work!
I took a bunch of blog photos today. I didn’t think my photography was improving much, but then a while back I looked back at some old posts and I can definitely see a change for the better.
I shot photos for a face of the day post! Such a creepy selfie, this one.
When you know all the languages on the packaging.
It’s really not as useful as you may think though guys, haha! More like a nice party trick ;)
In the evening my parents took me to Amsterdam to see Plien & Bianca, a comic duo. I’m not a big fan of stand-up comedy but these ladies are really good and their jokes are actually funny.
It was the last time they were doing this show so we were lucky to get our hands on some tickets!
The show was in the De la mar theatre.
Lovely view!
The show was great, I had a good laugh. Really glad we could go!
And that was my week! I hope you had a good one as well. Have a great week guys!
