Easter Weekend | Loepsie’s Life

Hello everybody! How has your Easter been? I hope it was filled with yummy food, sunshine and great people. Even though at the beginning of last week I had every intention of being super productive and getting my content back on track, with the holidays and a sad thing that happend mid-week I wasn’t able to produce much at all. I decided not to beat myself up about it and take my time, so apologies for the lack of action on my part. It did end up being a pretty good week, after all. Let’s take a look at the photos I took.

Fresh tulips! As can be expected, when spring rolls around tulips pop up everywhere in the Netherlands. I decided to bring home this beautiful purple bouquet to brighten up the living room.

Planning and editing photos, always with a pot of tea by my side.

On Tuesday I filmed the tutorial for this textured French twist. I really like how it turned out, it’s definitely something I’m going to be wearing more.

Rattie love! <3

Wednesday was my mom’s birthday, and as it was a special one this year I took her to a spa for the day. We went to Thermen Bussloo and it was amazing. We got massages and facials and manicures and had lovely food…

This is the colour we both ended up choosing, without realising we’d gone for the same one, haha! It’s OPI I’m Not Really A Waitress, the gel version. I find it absolutely incredible that this polish still looks perfect on my nails today, as I’m typing this. I usually can’t make normal polish last more than two days. It may be time to give at home gel manicures another go!

While we were at the spa I didn’t have my phone on me, and when I took it out in the late afternoon I saw I had a bunch of messages from Robbert and I knew what was going on before I even opened them. As you may recall, little Penpingion got sick a few weeks back. He recovered really well on antibiotics, but a few days after he went off them his breathing started to get worse again. He was an old boy (2 years and 3 months) and his age had really started to show recently, even though he was still happy and curious and had a good appetite. I was considering calling the vet on Tuesday to see if I could start another treatment so soon after the last one ended, but decided to wait and see how it’d go as it wasn’t serious and he seemed better again by the end of the day. He looked quite good on Wednesday morning as well, but I asked Robbert if he could work from home that day anyway as I was leaving for the spa and I wanted to keep an eye on Penpingion in case his condition worsened and he’d need medical care after all. Unfortunately Robbert informed me that his condition did worsen throughout the day. I decided to skip my mom’s birthday dinner and go straight home from the spa instead to see what we could do. Unfortunately we got caught in traffic and were still on our way when I got the call from Robbert that Penpingion didn’t make it.

We’re all really sad to see him go, but at the same time I’m very happy that he’s had such a long and happy life. He got lucky, as for a rat with myco flareups throughout all his life he was remarkably healthy for a really long time. It was time for him to go, and I’m very glad it all happened quickly, there wasn’t a long period of suffering at the end, and it happened peacefully at home. Rest in peace, little Penpin! We miss you.

For a little Netflix update: Robbert and I finished watching Altered Carbon recently. Afterwards we had a go at The Frankenstein Chronicles but the first episode didn’t really grab our attention, so we decided to start watching Godless instead. That one looks really good so far!

On Friday I met up with my parents to go buy some plants for the balcony. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to get and how much would fit on the little balcony, so we decided to start slowly and just buy a few basics.

I knew for sure I wanted to get a few herbs, and a taller plant to go in the corner. We also got a bunch of throw pillows, some accessories and a doormat.

Here’s what we’ve got so far! With all the labels still on, haha. I really like where this is going. It’ll probably take one or two more trips to the store before I’m able to call it all finished and do a grand reveal post :) I still want to get more plants and a throw blanket, as well as some lights. It’s already looking so good now, I can’t wait to see it all done and enjoy it all throughout the upcoming months!

I did a big round of cleaning on Friday and got rid of some clothes. Such a bittersweet feeling.

Friday afternoon my friends came over for an all night Dungeons & Dragons session. Our DM was home for Easter so we jumped on the opportunity to play in real life, like in the good old days. We ended up playing until 4.30 AM (coffee was needed) and it was great fun. Next morning we took it nice and slow and had a lovely breakfast.

On Sunday my parents invited us over for Easter brunch and dinner. I wish Easter brunch was a monthly thing, my mouth is watering just from looking at this deliciousness.

It was raining all day, but in the afternoon the rain stopped for a few hours so we went on a little walk around the woods.

Ending the week with a photo of Diarmuid, who we’ve dubbed The Peeker. He loves to peek at us from little hiding holes and it’s the most adorable thing ever :)

Have a great week everybody!
