Bouncing Back | Loepsie’s Life

Happy Monday, my lovely readers! Welcome to my weekly life recap. I hope I didn’t give you too much of a scare with my worried messages from last week. Life comes in waves and after a bit of a low, I’m happy to report I’m on the rise again. Your encouraging messages on here, YouTube and social media mean the world to me and have really helped me put things in a different perspective. I’m currently creating content with a mindset much more alike to the one I had when I started 10 years ago: just putting out one video at a time that I’m proud of, and riding the waves from there. I filmed the first video after that creative block tea time video with this very mindset. It went up yesterday and lo and behold, it’s doing great.

Whenever I feel stuck now I’ll have a wealth of kind words to go back to, so thank you so much. I’m really excited to create again. In fact, that’s what I did last week. I took it slow but still created enough content that I’m very happy with. That’s not all I did though, so let’s take a look at what I’ve been up to.

On Monday evening we headed to the theater in Utrecht again for the screening of Game of Thrones S08E03. CAN WE JUST TAKE A MOMENT PLEASE. What even was that. “The Long Night” is hands down the best episode of all of Game of Thrones and I’d even go as far as to say it’s one of the best things that happened in television history. I was absolutely blown away by the cinematography, the suspense-building, the immersion, and of course the big moment. The way they handled an 80-minute long battle scene is absolutely masterful and brilliant and beyond anything I ever expected to see. We’re planning to definitely re-watch this one.

It was also probably the best episode ever to experience in a theater full of people who were collectively crying, gasping, cheering at the top of their lungs, and then left sitting in their bean bags in a state of shock. Sheer perfection. I also couldn’t have picked a better time to wear my Stark t-shirt.

We met up with a few friends to have a little picknick outside the venue again beforehand, and this time I made hummus, spinach & pepper wraps.

Whenever someone’s wearing loose-fitting clothes, Pádraig likes to get in and have a rummage around. It’s the most adorable thing ever, to feel his tiny hands attempting to lift the bottom of your sweater in the back and then trying to squeeze into your sleeve.

I bought these wool trousers in a vintage store a while ago, and now I finally got around to re-positioning the button. Doing that made the waist that 2 cm wider, which is just what I needed to fit into the trousers comfortably. I absolutely love them, but I do have to say they’re the itchiest thing ever. I’ll definitely put on some leggings underneat next time.

Beyond Meat came to the Netherlands! They started selling the beyond burger in some stores, and I was really excited to try it, until I found it in my store and discovered it costs €6. SIX EUROS! For a patty! That is absolutely insane so even though the burger was delicious, I don’t think I’ll be re-purchasing it.

Quadruple squish! I love when they all squeeze together like this.

I filmed a video that’s been much anticipated and I can’t wait for you guys to see it! It’s going up later this week.

The curls I made for that video came together in a rather nice brushout next day.

I was headed for central Amsterdam that day to do some vintage shopping with my brother and take photos for my Amsterdam vintage shopping guide. I didn’t need anything so I talked myself out of buying everything I wanted, including this dress. Admittedly, I’m mourning this piece a little bit as it’s super gorgeous and exactly my style but I just couldn’t justify buying it right now. My brother did get that shirt he’s wearing, by the way.

Something I should remember to do more often: washing our pillows. I love how crispy white they come out of the washer/dryer, and I do believe it’s quite healthy to wash them regularly. No idea why I keep forgetting to do it!

On Saturday I felt like leaving the house for a bit, so I headed to one of my favourite places: IKEA. We needed a few little things from there (lightbulbs and such), but of course I took the opportunity to have a look around. I absolutely love this round set of outdoor furniture! If we had a garden, I’d want to get this set for it for sure.

I also adore how they decorated these bookshelves. We have the same ones at home and I’ve been trying to style them since we moved in, but I’ve never been able to get them to look this nice. I guess I’m just really drawn to the neutral, peaceful look of it all, but that’s definitely incompatible with our belongings at the moment. Oh well, you win some, you lose some :)

Ok, last one, I promise. But how gorgeous is this bar table? We have a bar table at home right now and love the concept, and this one is SO pretty. I adore the wooden tabletop. Not going to buy it though, as we’d need two of these which is highly impractical, it’s pricier than it should be IMO and most of all: we don’t need it. There you go, your daily dose of conscious consumerism ;)

What I did buy however, are two of these shelf dividers. I’ve had a few of these for years now and they are the best thing when you’re trying to organise lots of smaller things into a shelf cabinet. They’ve really helped create more room to store our mugs and glasses.

I also got a new bottle of Smakrik oil, which is one of my favourite things on the market and quickly became a staple in my kitchen when I first discovered it. It’s rapeseed oil with butter flavour, a perfect way to add that typical taste to vegan dishes.

Some strange play of fate made it so that I in fact spent two days in a row at IKEA. My friend texted me the next day asking whether I wanted to go for a hot dog, which I definitely did. Their veggie dogs are absolutely delicious and at €0,50 a piece, you can’t even compare them to the €6 beyond burger, haha!

So that brings us to the end of my week. I hope you’ve had a good one, guys. Talk to you soon!
