I Followed An 18th Century Hair Tutorial

In today’s video I try following an 18th century hair tutorial, as put down in James Stewart’s 1782 book “Plocacosmos; or the whole art of hairdressing”. It was… Interesting. Grab yourself a cup of tea, this is a long one. Enjoy watching!

Read Plocacosmos here. The hairstyling guide starts on page 246.

  1. Thank you for putting in so much effort to do this. I was curious to know if you took it out afterwards before going to sleep. If you did that must have been so hard. You said that these hairstyles were meant to last for many weeks so how did women preserve the hairstyle and sleep with them?

You are my favorite channel on YouTube! Don’t feel pressed to do things that you do not want to do.

    Thanks
