The Sun Is Shining | Loepsie’s Life

Happy Monday my dear readers! Spring is in full swing in the Netherlands and I’m over the moon. I was able to go outside a lot this past week, which was awesome, there’s nothing like fresh air, sunshine and a little exercise to get you in a good mood. Let’s take a look at what my week has been like.

Saturday

1

Morning! I’m always super excited to see the ratties and they seem quite excited to see me as well, haha!

2

Time to go to the scouting. This is my “good morning I’m ready to entertain 12 hyper children”-face, can you tell? ;)

3

The weather was really nice so we ended up letting the kids play outside. They had a lot of fun climbing the trees and having us rescue them out of the highest branches, haha!

4

After scouting I went to Robbert’s house where we relaxed with some shows and the cat. We’re still watching the Magicians, and it’s getting more and more predictable… I do still enjoy watching it though. Also, GAME OF THRONES IS ALMOST HERE OMG!

Sunday

5

Next morning we slept in until Robbert had to leave for work.

6

And I went back to my parents’! The weather was amazing so I took it nice and slow and really enjoyed my bike ride home.

7

When I came home I just sat behind my computer doing work and drinking tea for the rest of the day :)

Monday

8

More work! I’m still catching up, it’s been so busy the past weeks that I haven’t managed to work ahead at all. It seems like I’m finally catching up now, I hope to be able to return to my regular schedule of working ahead and then I’ll be able to take my evenings off again as well. Looking forward to it!

9

In the afternoon I helped the guys out with a project for the regional scouting competitions which are coming up soon. I’m not participating but Robbert and a bunch of our friends are so I think I’m going to hop by and check on them when it’s happening next week.

10

Afterwards Robbert helped me take a few outfit shots in the cherry blossom park. The cherry trees are in bloom right now and it’s absolutely gorgeous!

11

Penpingion says hi!

12

After dinner I hopped on my bike to go to dance class. The sun was starting to set and it created this amazing scenery.

13

14

Once every two years my teacher brings all dance classes of the school together in a big show, which has been my favourite thing about dance since I can remember. I’ve been dancing with this teacher for over 15 years now, which is crazy. Anyways, this year there’s a big show coming up in summer and we’re working on a couple of performances for it. They’re turning out great and I’m super excited for the show already!

Afterwards I went home to Utrecht and found out one of the construction workers working on the renovations outside my house was killed in an accident on the site. I was really shocked and saddened by the news, I’d been watching the guys at work every day… The feeling of powerlessness you get in a situation like that is horrible. I ended up adding a candle to the little memorial place that had popped up while I was away. An old lady from the neighbourhood lights them all every night which is really beautiful.

Tuesday

15

Time to do the groceries! I put my winter coat away this week and got by perfectly with just my leather jackets, yay!

16

I did the groceries by foot again, still trying to make this a habit. It was raining a little so I brought an umbrella just in case.

17

Grocery haul! I got crisps, courgettes, avocados, onions, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, egg salad, peanut butter, cream cheese, diced tomatoes, beans and corn.

18

My lunch: bread with cream cheese, egg salad or sandwich spread. It doesn’t look very appetizing but I swear it’s great, haha!

19

I filmed a hair tutorial for Loepsie’s Theetuin…

20

And another one on a historical hairstyle for Loepsie.

21

Afterwards I felt very much ready to head outside and go for a walk, so I went to the park to enjoy some rays of sunlight.

22

Seeing little wild flowers makes me so happy!

23

Meal prep! I made a huge amount of chilli.

24

With guacamole of course! I do eat Tex Mex a LOT but hey, it’s delicious and healthy :)

25

I started working on my gallery wall. I think I’m going to go with the mixed items version after all, this is a little layout try-out I did. I like this but it’s not entirely there yet!

26

Afterwards I dropped down on the bed and watched some TV with a way too chocolatey hot chocolate.

Wednesday

27

I dedicated most of this day to purging and spring cleaning my closet. I’m super proud of myself guys, I got rid of so many things! I don’t think I’ve ever had such a succesful purge before. Maybe it’s due to the very decisive mood I was in, I even got rid of a bunch of handbags, which is unique since I’m a huge handbag hoarder.

28

There’s so much more space now!

29

I decided to take my old clothes to H&M right away, before I got the chance to stow them away somewhere and forget about donating them. H&M give you a discount coupon for every bag of clothing you donate. All fabrics are recycled and all proceedings go to charity, so it’s win-win!

30

While I was at the mall I hopped by Action as well to get some storage items for my freshly cleaned out space.

31

Look at my bike all rained on! I couldn’t evade it this time and had to cycle home though the rain.

32

I treated myself to a hot matcha latte when I got home, it’s so good for the body and soul.

33

Robbert came over later in the afternoon and I cooked us some zoodles with pesto sauce.

Thursday

34

Work work! Robbert is working on his master thesis at the moment on top of lots of scouting things going on so he’s super busy, poor thing.

35

OOTD! I rediscovered this shirt during my closet clean up and I thought I really need to wear this more, so I did. It’s so cute!

36

I filmed the Debbie Harry Beauty Beacons video, which I’m very happy with. I think it turned out really nice and the transformation is way better than I expected when I started, haha!

Friday

37

Since we’d both been working very hard all week and I’d created some room in my closet, Robbert and I decided to head to Arnhem on Friday, enjoy some time together and do some shopping.

39

Arnhem is such a beautiful city, I really like going there. I really like going to the East in general, the country is gorgeous over there. We once stayed in the Veluwe area for a weekend to celebrate Robbert’s birthday and it was awesome, I’d love to spend a couple of days there again soon and do some major hiking.

38

Primark! I didn’t end up getting many clothes, I’ve noticed I’ve become a lot more picky over the years. I did get some accessories, shoes and underwear though, and Robbert did get some clothes, including a really nice faux leather jacket.

40

Awkward selfie time!

41

Afterwards I went back to my parents’ house for another weekend, and was greeted by some excited happy ratties. I love these little fellows to pieces!

That was my week! I hope you got to wind down a little this weekend and are ready to come back full force this week. Have a good one, guys!

  1. Do you put apples in your chili? I’ve never seen that before, but I can absolutely imagine it tasting good.
The new wall decoration is coming along quite nicely, I like the variety of shapes and materials, can’t wait to see it when it’s finished.
Is the struggling to work ahead the reason we’ve been getting plogs? Last week I figured it was because you had quite a bit of footage from Efteling. It is nice to see more random bits for which you probably wouldn’t bother taking the vlog cam out, and it must be a LOT less work than editing a vlog + adding subtitles. I do miss the actual vlog though.

    1. Nooo that’s sweet potato, haha!
I’m dialing vlogging down a notch. I’d been feeling a lot of pressure to vlog lately when I haven’t been feeling like vlogging much. It’s much more invasive in ones personal life than it may seem… I’d also been dissatisfied with the content of my vlogs as I’ve mentioned before, so I feel like vlogging daily takes a lot of energy for an outcome I’m not satisfied or even completely comfortable with. I’ll still be vlogging because I do enjoy it often, but I’ve decided to only vlog when I feel like vlogging and not because I feel like I have to because I must fill a weekly video. So now I’m vlogging when there’s a fun occasion I want to share with everybody or just a random day in my life when I feel like chatting :) There will be one next week, and another one two weeks later when I go to the Elf Fantasy Fair in any case :D

      1. Well that makes a lot more sense haha!

Hm, yeah I get it. In a vlog you’re constantly putting your life on show, and you probably feel the pressure to make your life more exciting/interesting than it actually is or you actually want it to be. And it’s probably better to have five minutes of nice, well-edited content than twelve of rather mundane things you include just because you feel like you can’t leave out any days. Not that I didn’t enjoy watching the mundane parts! Eh. So yeah, I’m gonna miss the more extensive vlogs but I understand why you choose to back down a bit.

I’ll just have to check here more regularly then to catch some plogs! (They’re gonna be a regular thing, hopefully? They’re nice)

      2. Thanks for understanding! :) You pretty much hit the nail on the head there. I love chatting to my viewers and I’ll definitely continue to do so, just not every single day, especially when I’m a very schedule-loving person and all my weeks are exactly the same, haha!
I’m definitely planning to make plogs a weekly thing! :)
