Last Week Of Summer | Loepsie’s Life

Good day to you all! Last week was the official last week of summer, and summer went out with a bang. We reached temperatures of 30+ degrees, which is ridiculous for the Netherlands, and I made sure to enjoy it. Let’s take a look at what my week has been like!

Monday

1

Monday morning at Robbert’s! The weather was lovely so we sat outside while I typed up my diary, and Robbert put some finishing touches to his thesis. By the way, who remembers my old tea pot? I gave it to Robbert’s family after I melted the bottom part haha, they had the same tea pot. Their actual pot was broken while their bottom part was till intact, perfect match ;)

2

I tried to proofread Robbert’s thesis, but when he sent it to me I just burst out laughing. He’s doing a master’s degree in math so I had no idea what to make of the whole thing. I tried to read everything that looked like a paragraph made up of mostly text, hahaha! The thesis finally got handed in on Monday, now we’re waiting for the results.

3

I had a checkup appointment at the dentist. I used to be really scared of the dentist, but I’ve relaxed a lot over the past years, and this time I wasn’t even nervous at all. The past few years all the dentist has done is look at my teeth and compliment them, haha! I’ve always had good teeth but they used to be very crooked, I went through hell at the orthodontist so I really don’t like when stuff is going on inside my mouth, but luckily I’m getting better at handling it. I also think my pain threshold has gone up…

As always, I went to dance class in the evening and then back home to Utrecht.

Tuesday

4

Breakfast! The usual :) When temperatures drop I’m definitely going back to my beloved apple pie oatmeal though.

5

Grocery haul! I got bread, muesli, chickpeas, onions, bananas, yoghonaise, baba ganoush, tomatoes, peaches, broad beans, cucumber and nori.

6

I went to run some errands in town. I can’t get over how beautiful Utrecht is! I love this city so much…

7

In the evening I prepared a sushi bowl for myself. I was really craving this and it’s the perfect dish for a super hot day! I could honestly eat this every week. If it wasn’t so expensive to make ;)

Wednesday

8

I tend to forget how much I love this blush, but every now and then I re-discover it and then I wear it every day. It’s Sleek Rose Gold, a cult classic!

9

I spent most of Wednesday filming and editing videos. I’m trying to work ahead now so I’ll have plenty of time to work on Halloween videos at the end of September and throughout October. I have some really cool ideas and can’t wait to get started!

10

In the afternoon Robbert came over and we went to do the groceries for… The first session of Dungeons & Dragons! We took a break over summer as always, only this time the DM used the break to move to Irelands. Hmpf. I’d really appreciate it if my friends could stop moving to Celtic countries, haha! Anyways, the first session was Wednesday, and Robbert and I were cooking for everybody that hasn’t emigrated. We prepared a delicious grilled nectarine salad (recipe coming soon!), and bought some cherry tomatoes as well. They came with this adorable little tomato container. I’m a total sucker for containers, I have way too much useless plastic in my kitchen but I can’t help it. Look at it! It’s so cute, haha!

11

As the DM is now abroad but nobody wanted to stop playing, we’ve decided to switch to a digital platform and start playing online. We’re now using Roll20 as a platform, which seems to be working really well so far. I like how there’s a video & audio connection so we can still see each other. We’ve also switched to D&D 5E, as opposed to 4E which is what we played before. 5E is a lot simpler and fits our style of playing better, I think. Before summer break, we finished one of our campaigns (one we’d been playing for four years *cries*), or well, finished the main quest so we could put the campaign to rest and return to it occasionally when the DM comes to the Netherlands. With that campaign over, we decided to start a new one with a… PIRATE THEME! I’m so excited you guys have no idea, haha! My character is Mei Ling, a human arcane trickster rogue with an alchemist background. I can’t wait to actually start playing with her.
We’ve also digitalised the other campaign we had going, as that one was far too new to stop already, but we have yet to play that.

Thursday

12

On Thursday, Robbert and I headed to Arnhem for our seasonal shopping trip. We like to take a day out about once every season to stock up on new clothes. Arnhem is our favourite place to go as it’s a lovely city with a nice large and clean Primark. Arnhem is situated in the east of the Netherlands, I absolutely love the east. It’s so quiet there, I’d love to live there one day (although it’s probably not happening. People don’t generally move from the west to the east unless they’re retired, haha). Anyways, we walked around the city for a bit and then set down for lunch at Bagels & Beans.

13

Afterwards we headed into Primark, where I found it quite difficult to find clothes that suited me. High necklines appear to be in fashion right now, but they unfortunately don’t look good with my body type. At all. I did end up finding some pieces that I liked (such as this blouse) which I’ll show you in a separate post soon, but I also tried on a lot of stuff that I returned. What on earth is wrong with these jeans???

14

Oh my god… Everything is wrong with this outfit. Everything. (THOSE JEANS THOUGH?!?!)

15

We found some nice pieces in the end, so we happily headed home.

Friday

16

More filming and editing on Friday! I spent nearly all day behind either my camera or my computer.

17

Since the weather was so nice, I didn’t want to pass up an opportunity to go out so I took a walk in the park, which was looking gorgeous as ever.

18

I gathered up some leftovers from my kitchen and made this pasta with homemade tomato sauce for dinner. It turned out delicious!

Saturday

19

Since I’m not a beaver leader at scouting anymore, I have Saturday mornings off. Oh, how I’ve missed that! I decided to head out and explore this estate just outside Utrecht. Amelisweerd is a very popular place for people that live in Utrecht to go running or hiking, and apparently it’s really close to my house so it’s really unacceptable that I’ve never been there before. I went and I absolutely fell in love! Oh my, is this place beautiful. I can’t believe I had this so near me and never even knew about it. I walked around for about and hour and a half, an then sat down.

20

I’d brought the rest of my pasta from the night before and my e-reader, and sat down to read for a bit. It was so quiet, I sat there for over an hour and only saw five people.

21

I’m definitely coming back here. A lot. I can only imagine how beautiful everything will look in Autumn! I vlogged this day by the way, you can expect that video soon :)

22

Afterwards I headed to my parents’ for some rattie cuddles.

Sunday

23

Off to Robbert’s place again! The weather was still lovely but not nearly as hot, nice for a bike trip. Which was good as I took a wrong turn somewhere. On this route I’ve been taking for five years. No idea how it happened, but I ended up taking the scenic route, haha!

24

Cathing some rays in the garden.

25

Look at that beautiful blue sky! I’ll be sad to see it replaced by the typical Dutch greyness again.

26

We had dinner outside as well, and I burst out laughing as I noticed this. One of their cats got on the sun screen and was sticking its paw out, haha!

So that was my entire week! I absolutely loved this week, I got plenty of work done and snuck in a lot of fun as well. If every week could look like this one I’d be extremely happy :)
I hope you’ve had a great week as well and are headed towards an even greater one!
