Benefit BADgal BANG! Mascara Review

After reaching cult status with their They’re Real! and Roller Lash mascaras, Benefit is trying again with their newest launch: the super promising BADgal BANG! Where They’re Real focuses on length and Roller Lash is a curling formula, BADgal BANG! promises out-of-this-world volume. I’m a huge fan of Benefit mascara and this product has been hyped up a lot, so I have high hopes for it. I was lucky enough to get sent a tube upon the launch, and I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now so I’m all ready to give you a full report. Let’s see how this performs!

BADgal BANG! has a revolutionary formula using aero-particles as the volumising agent. Aero-particles are used in space technology, and are one of the lightest materials currently known to man. Sounds good, right? The aero-particles are supposed to give great volume without weighing down the lashes, to guarantee a lasting lift as well. The formula is buildable for those who want an even stronger look, intensely black, water resistant , smudge-proof and flake free. It also contains provitamin B5 to condition the lashes.

The brush is completely new as well: a nice and thin, conic silicone brush with bristles that grab on to every individual lash. The brush is super flexible, which is weird at first but actually easy to work with.

Well hello, lashes! I like what I’m seeing here. My eye instantly looks more awake and defined, and my lashes look pretty amazing if I dare say so myself. My eyelashes are very straight and I’d usually use a curler before applying mascara, but I wanted to really put BADgal BANG! to the test so I didn’t curl my lashes at all in these photos. This lift is not bad at all! I especially love what this does to my lower lashes, though. It almost looks as if I applied a strip of falsies there.

Before

After

This mascara, as nearly every one I’ve used before, needs a few days to dry down a bit before it gets really good. My very first application was a bit messy and clumpy, but since the formula dried down a little I haven’t experienced that problem at all. I personally wouldn’t layer this mascara, anything over about a layer and a half takes my lashes to spider central. The lashes will clump together and I’m not a fan of that look. One layer, however, provides amazing volume in no time. The lift stays really well on me, and the mascara will look the same at night as it did right after application in the morning. Benefit promises 36 hour wear, which I haven’t tested because come on, you shouldn’t wear mascara for 36 hours no matter how great it still looks. I can attest however that your regular 16 hours of daytime it survives just fine.

Now here’s a confession for you: I have the horrible habit of picking mascara off my eyelashes when I’m focussed or bored. I’ve had to stop doing that since using BADgal BANG! because this one won’t come off. What a wonderful side-effect, haha!

BADgal BANG! lives up to the expectations I have of Benefit mascaras. They’re up there in price, but they do everything you could want from a mascara. This one is no exception. If you’re looking for a mascara that will make an impact and last, this is a good place to start.
