Hello, Summer! | Loepsie’s Life

Happy Monday, my lovely readers! It’s one of those Mondays today that really feels like a fresh start to me, for some reason. I have a lot to do but also a lot of motivation and energy to do it, so bring on the week! Next week Robbert and I are going to spend a few days by the beach so this is the time to work extra hard and prepare content to go up while we’re on holiday.
Last week was fantastic! I often wish my mood didn’t depend on the weather so heavily, but when we have a wonderful warm, sunny week like this one it’s actually really great. Let’s take a look at what I’ve been up to.

As it was really nice out, I decided to bring the ratties onto the balcony. They weren’t too keen on it I have to say, probably because it’s such a new experience to them. After a short rummage around I took them back inside again.

One of my favourite things about summer is that it’s light out for so long. The sun goes down at around 11 in the afternoon right now, so there’s plenty of time to go on walks after dinner.

I’m still sticking to my resolution of leaving the house every day! Even if it’s just to run a little errand like buying rat food- I have to go out and get some fresh air every single day. I feel like it’s doing me good, this one.

Finally got to my cross-stitching project again. I haven’t worked on this at all for  a while but I picked it back up and am really enjoying it again, even despite the super slow progress, haha :) I’ve had this thing since February and this is how far I’ve gotten. It’s rather embarrassing really, but for some reason this cross-stitch requires a lot of intense concentration and I can’t keep it up for more than an hour at a time before I feel completely mentally exhausted. It has so many different symbols and colours! You can’t even tell how many different colours there are because they’re all so similar, but man. It’s intense.

I had the intention to go running that day, but as the day progressed I started feeling tired and lazy and ended up not going. Then around 9.30 I bit the bullet and went anyway. I’m so glad I did! I had a good run and was really proud of myself for going even though I didn’t feel like it at first. I have to say though, I’m starting to actually enjoy this whole running thing. Who would’ve thought! I’m considering bringing my workout gear on holiday with me next week so I can go for an early morning run down the boulevard.

Carrot is love :)

Another vet visit with the boys! Still trying to cure Pádraig’s ear infection, and Diarmuid’s myco seems to be flaring up as well as he’s been sneezing a bit. We’re trying a combination of two antibiotics now, so let’s hope this finally works.

On Thursday evening my brother came over, and we went out to do some skating. The weather was lovely, we were chatting away, and before we knew it we had skated all the way over to Robbert’s home village.

We decided to take a little break, have some ice cream, and then make our way back to my place by a different route. Lemon sorbet is my favourite flavour of ice cream on hot days, what’s yours? :)

We ended up skating 13 km that evening. A record!

Friday’s outfit of the day.

My parents brouhgt this chocolate over for me from Edinburgh a while back, and I’ve been slowly munching away at it. This is surprisingly delicious, guys! It tastes like salted dark chocolate with rosemary and a bunch of other herbs and spices, really good.

Kimchi and rice for dinner in the afternoon. I’m planning to buy a fermentation crock in autumn and start experimenting with making my own sauerkraut and kimchi. Do any of you have any experience with that? Any tips for me?

In the evening I joined Robbert at scouting, and a few of us headed over to our fellow leader’s birthday party. We had a great time, danced all night and ended up coming home at 3.30. I don’t remember the last time I stayed out that late, so that means it really was a great party, haha!

Next day Robbert went back to scouting for an activity with the kids, and I cycled over to my hometown to visit my parents for a bit.

I made sushi bowls in the evening and Robbert and I called it the night nice and early, as we were both falling asleep by 7 o’clock. We’re getting old, haha!

The next morning we slept in a bit and I prepared a nice breakfast in the sun on our balcony.

Afterwards we headed over to scouting again, for an activity with the leaders this time. We did a bunch of photo challenges and played games, followed by a delicious barbecue in the evening.

And that concludes my week! I hope you’ve had a great one as well, guys. Talk to you soon!

  1. I really enjoyed your post, as always! I have a “quick kimchi” recipe that I like. If you want it, just let me know.
